DIY waste oil burner/hob

I know shite is on the way but just now, this very moment, life is perfect. I would show you a pic but the only light is a distant domestic light from an isolated house and me sat outside my van in my dressing gown with a glass of whisky and my Coleman petrol lantern. If this is roughing it give me more!

Apologies for the poor camera but in this light it doesn't make much difference.

Honey ferments.

I've been trying different honey ferments from local raw honey. I started with the onion/honey cough syrup for a nasty cough which worked great and I now always have some made up. I then moved on to the honey/garlic ferments and this has been fun and a good learning curve. The basic honey/garlic was good and relatively tasty but I was interested to know what else I could incorporate. Honey and garlic base with added chillies, rosemary, and mint is my favourite but the rosemary (and sometimes chilli seeds) get in the way a little. My favourite is now honey with crushed garlic, coarse chopped chillies and fresh mint...good enough to drink from the jar and definitely good for you.

Folkes, got a question. If there was a fast onset economical collapse here in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and beyond, how are you set up to get through the immediate future days and weeks and months ahead? Firstly do you have food and water, do you have any fuel for whatever cars or vans you use. Do you have fuel (E5 or diesel) for generators and other small engines such as chainsaws and water pumps. If you have supplies stored are they good and will they be accessible in power outages (my storage container is in a secured location that needs power for the gates) Do you have longer term plans for food and water?
You may wonder why I haven't mentioned rent/mortgages...if you are in accommodation you can/should guard it and consider it yours, at least until matters stabilise...remember if you've been paying rent/mortgage they'll want your money in future.

A quick positive word, don't get caught up in the current fear mongering and rhetoric, live your life with a smile and don't get dragged into media and political propaganda, we live in a time of lies and illusions.

Salt.

Salt is a very important part of your dietary needs but not processed table salt. I take salt daily with water all year round and have looked at various sources, some inexpensive and some a bit pricey. I've settled on finding a good source of Celtic salt so I'm detailing it below. I'm not on any kick backs of any sort and the seller has no idea this is posted.
You can find lots of other sources too including Remdonds, Himalayan salt, black salt and more. Word of caution, the black salt I've bought in the past had a higher sulphur content and that didn't go well with ferments and some cooking.
