It doesn't matter if you are related to the clothing industry or not — watch the sensational documentary “The true Cost”
It shows the underside of production, what and who is behind each thing.
What is the life cycle of your T-Shirt?
Why do 99% of clothes end up in a landfill, even if you gave them to charity?
Before the start of this investigation, the filmmakers, like many of us, did not know how dirty this field of activity is. Creepy details and shots will allow you to take a fresh look at what we wear.

"People are motivated to have a lot of things because it gives us the feeling that we will live forever."
"We no longer have faith in God, but everyone should believe in something because the belief system reduces the fear of death.
We have to take this fear and do something about it!
And what are we doing?
We buy shit that we don't need."
I recommend a documentary on YouTube:
"Money, happiness and eternal life - Greed"

5 places in Singapore to learn sewing for FREE (part 1)
“Earth Sweat Shop Project”
№ 1. Tekka Place (Mall in Little India)
Wed-Sun 14:00 - 18:00,
2nd floor, just above the escalator.
Until 21st August
You are also welcome to donate your clothes, that you don’t wear anymore or if they’re damaged❤️
Or just visit Tekka Place if you want to renew your wardrobe.
№ 2. Harbourfront Library (Vivo City)
Every day until 8th August,
Sessions: 11:00 - 13:00 & 15:00 - 17:00 (can visit both!)
In №1-2 volunteers will help you to make something from fashion waste (for example, a pouch).
There are not only sewing machines but also overlockers, and in Tekka they have one industrial machine.
You also can come to these places to work on your project.
I also would like to mention that sometimes there are more participants than volunteers, so it would be amazing if you can come and help others as volunteer.
Here project publishes its updates.

Western ‘Fast Fashion’ That Pollutes African Beaches
Ghana is home to a second-hand clothes industry where unwanted Western clothes are shipped for resale — but the African nation is now struggling to cope with demand.
The garments are donated by well-meaning Westerners and locals will receive them in the hope that they uncover a few good-quality finds to sell.
Everything that cannot be sold is just thrown away (and this is about 40%).
The problem is compounded by an increase in the flow of “disposable” outfits, which negatively affects the textile sector in Ghana, as local merchants are unable to compete with the flow of cheap clothes from abroad.
You can see how this market works from the inside in an 11-minute video (I highly recommend this mini-documentary!)

Sneakers from recycled sex toys 😳
Brand Rose In Good Faith has collaborated with a sex toy manufacturer to create a pair of shoes made from recycled sex toys.
The founder believes the shoes "Plastic Soul" could reduce waste from unwanted polymers and help clean up the footwear industry.
Sneakers have a raised arch for support, an organic cotton lining, and a natural cork insole that adapts to the shape of your foot.
The model costs $180.
How do you like the idea? @offdose

Learn Weaving for Free with “Earth Renew Sweat Project”🇸🇬
You probably saw these types of carpets in IKEA or in your grandma’s house.
Earth Renew Sweat Project (ERSP) has one loom and as yarns, they use fashion waste.
Knitted materials such as T-Shirts are the best for this purpose. If you have any at home, take them with you. If not, don’t worry there are yarns that were already prepared, or you just can help guys to cut new yarns, they have some t-shirts too.
It’s very easy, I learnt it in a few minutes and it’s really fun. One couple today also brought their daughter (5-6y.o) and she loved the process too.
Location:
Tekka Place (Mall in Little India)
2nd floor, above the escalator
Thursday - Sunday, 2-6 p.m (until 21st August).
Registration or booking is not needed.
In the next post, I’ll tell you more about “Earth Renew Sweat Project” and what you can learn and do there ❤️
