There is a symbolic place in Odesa - the Alley of the Righteous of the World, which appeared 20 years ago - in Prokhorovsky Square near the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. “We created this alley as a sign of gratitude to the Ukrainians who, during the Second World War, at the risk of their own lives, helped the Jews,” said Roman Shvartsman, head of the Odesa Regional Association of Jewish Former Ghetto and Nazi Concentration Camp Prisoners.
“Odesa remembers everyone: both the heroes who defended and liberated it, and the people who can be called the “conscience of the city,” said Deputy Odesa Mayor Oleg Bryndak.
