Today, on the International Volunteer Day, I would like to thank everyone who is changing our world through their good deeds.

Since 2014, volunteering has become a symbol of unity and resilience for Ukraine. It was volunteers who were the first to support the military, help IDPs and take on challenges that seemed impossible to overcome.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, this support has become even more extensive and important. Thanks to your dedication and humanity, our communities have survived and thousands of people have received the help they need.

You are true heroes of our time, an example of strength of spirit, love for your neighbour and faith in victory. Thank you for your kind hearts, time and efforts.

Happy holiday, volunteers! May the good you do come back to you.

Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov
In continuation of the barrier-free theme, Odesa hosted the "Odesa Accessible for All tourism" conference, which brought together people with disabilities, government officials and business representatives to discuss the accessibility of tourist, cultural and restaurant and hotel facilities. The conference also discussed medical tourism.

The event aimed to unite the efforts of city authorities and businesses to develop a barrier-free environment in tourism and the hospitality industry. This topic, in particular, was identified by the National Tourism Organisation of Ukraine as a key one for 2024.

"Today, we are creating conditions under which every resident and visitor of the city can move freely, receive the necessary services and participate in social life. Hotels, restaurants, museums, theatres, vehicles - all of these must be adapted for people with disabilities,"

- said Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.

The discussions focused on the current situation, plans, grant programmes, and the participation of business structures in the development of a barrier-free environment in Odesa.

Today marks thirty years of the Budapest Memorandum. Ten years of war. Not a single day did this document work. And because of this, everyone in the world will now know that a mere signature – by any state – or any assurances or promises are not enough for security. What’s needed are effective guarantees – real alliances and a realistic security foundation within the country. Weapons that enable defense and deterrence of the enemy. And unity that helps endure even the most challenging moments. We are working on every element of security. Thank you to everyone who is helping, and to all our people making it possible!
