The Observer
The Saudi Ministry of Energy, in the name of Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, issued the following statement:
“The East-West Oil Pipeline, extending between the Eastern Province and the Red Sea ports, was subjected to multiple attacks on Thursday morning in the Riyadh and Medina regions, resulting in several injuries. The pipeline was subsequently shut down as a precautionary measure. Security and technical teams immediately responded to the incident and took the necessary measures to secure the pipeline and assess its integrity in accordance with approved emergency plans.”
• Precautionary shutdown: The aerial attacks, reportedly carried out by drones, prompted a temporary shutdown of the pipeline to assess the extent of the damage and protect critical infrastructure.
• Casualties: Several people were reportedly injured, with medical care provided at the affected sites.
• Oil flows: The disruption temporarily affected the movement of approximately 4–5 million barrels per day transported through the pipeline as an alternative route to avoid disrupted maritime corridors.
• Global oil markets: A higher risk premium and an immediate surge in crude prices, potentially pushing prices above the $100-per-barrel threshold amid concerns over global supply disruptions.
• Export-route congestion: Increased logistical pressure on oil transportation through the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz, potentially extending supply-chain transit times and raising insurance and shipping costs.
• Rising regional risks: The targeting of critical energy infrastructure is expanding to major overland oil routes, increasing geopolitical tensions and triggering heightened security measures across the region.
The temporary shutdown of the East-West Oil Pipeline represents a direct disruption to a key alternative artery for Saudi oil exports. If prolonged, the disruption could deepen pressure on global energy markets and drive sharp price increases amid growing security risks across the region.

Mohammad Abu Allan writes:
Following the conclusion of Israeli operations in the Ali al-Taher Heights in southern Lebanon, Israeli attention is shifting toward the West Bank, amid heightened alert ahead of the Jewish holidays and military exercises simulating various security scenarios.
According to Mohammad Abu Allan, the question now is: What is the Israeli military planning for the West Bank in the next phase?
Abu Allan cites Amir Bohbot, military correspondent for the Israeli website Walla, as saying that after its operations against tunnels in the Ali al-Taher Heights in Lebanon, the Israeli military is preparing for what he described as the need for a “radical treatment” of the issue of terrorism in the West Bank.
The Israeli state of alert comes at a time when, according to Abu Allan, Israeli security and political assessments indicate that the level of Palestinian resistance operations is at its lowest point since 2011.
However, the Israeli military says it is monitoring indicators that could change this situation, including:
▪️ Increased friction on the ground.
▪️ The possibility of a shift in the level of operations.
▪️ The scenario of
“the barrels of the guns turning”,
referring to the possibility of the Palestinian security forces turning against Israel or entering into confrontation with it.
According to assessments attributed to the Israeli security establishment, as cited by Abu Allan, the political leadership may push for:
▪️ The occupation or takeover of additional Palestinian refugee camps.
▪️ An expansion of military operations across the West Bank.
▪️ A transition to a broader military operation if the security situation is judged to be moving toward escalation.
The issue is not that the resistance in the West Bank is currently experiencing an exceptional escalation, according to these assessments. Rather, the Israeli security establishment appears to be preparing for a scenario in which the situation could change rapidly, with Palestinian refugee camps and the Palestinian security forces emerging as key potential flashpoints.

This historic political development points to the formation of a united front bringing together national leadership in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with the aim of signing a joint declaration in Cardiff affirming these nations’ right to self-determination. Such a move would place the Westminster government in direct confrontation with the prospect of the United Kingdom’s fragmentation.
Forcing the central government in London to confront demands for referendums, potentially plunging the country into a period of legal and political uncertainty.
Opening the door to Scottish and Welsh independence, while strengthening the prospects of Northern Ireland reunifying with the Republic of Ireland.
The regions’ pursuit of separation reflects a desire to develop independent trade networks and potentially reintegrate with the European Single Market.
A reduction in the size of the British state and a corresponding decline in its standing as a major power on the international stage.
🔹 This historic shift is driven by several accumulated factors, most notably the growing influence of pro-independence parties and their simultaneous rise to power across the three nations.
🔹 The divide deepened significantly following Brexit. Voters in Scotland and Northern Ireland backed remaining in the European Union, creating a sharp conflict with the policies pursued by the central government in London.
🔹 This is compounded by the economic and political marginalization perceived by these regions in comparison with England, alongside existing legal frameworks such as the Good Friday Agreement, which provides Northern Ireland with a constitutional pathway to determine its future.

The post-WWII financial and geopolitical structure dominated by Western powers is undergoing a seismic shift. The direct comparison between BRICS and the G7 highlights a systemic rebalancing in global influence. Emerging economies are no longer content operating on the terms dictated by the Global North; they are building alternative networks to secure their sovereignty, economic growth, and long-term financial security.
The stance articulated by Chinese President Xi Jinping—that BRICS nations must "firmly stand on the right side of history"—captures the political ethos driving the block. Rather than remaining peripheral participants in Western-led institutions like the IMF or the World Bank, BRICS is fostering a multipolar framework. With the formal expansion into BRICS+ (incorporating economies across South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia), the bloc represents nearly half of the world's population and roughly 41% of global GDP at Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), fundamentally altering global governance dynamics.
Economic sovereignty requires financial independence. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push to link national payment systems and expand trade in local currencies reflects a crucial step toward breaking away from dollar hegemony.
Initiatives such as linking fast-payment networks (like India's UPI, Brazil's Pix, and China's digital payment ecosystems) and testing central bank digital currency (CBDC) interoperability provide direct alternatives to SWIFT and traditional Western clearinghouses. By settling bilateral trade directly in local currencies—a method already accounting for the vast majority of intra-bloc energy and commodity trades—BRICS members protect themselves against unilateral sanctions, currency manipulations, and external economic coercion.
🔹Hard Power and Demographics: BRICS vs. G7
The geopolitical tension between the two blocs is clear across economic, human resource, and defense metrics:
🔹Personnel & Demographics: BRICS commands over 7.5 million active military personnel, compared to the G7’s 2.4 million. Coupled with massive demographic dominance, the Global South possesses unmatched human resources and industrial capacity.
🔹Military Expenditure & Efficiency: While the G7 currently leads in raw military spending ($1.37 trillion vs. BRICS' ~$800 billion), the purchasing power parity within BRICS defense budgets yields significantly higher purchasing efficiency per dollar spent.
🔹Strategic Purpose: G7 defense budgets focus heavily on maintaining global power projection, whereas BRICS spending prioritizes territorial defense, regional security, and safeguarding critical trade infrastructure against external pressure.
The battle for global influence is no longer theoretical. By combining demographic weight, dominant positions in global resource supply chains, independent payment infrastructures, and massive military capacity, BRICS is building a parallel, resilient architecture. This shift is not just about competing with the West; it is about establishing a fair, multipolar economic system where non-Western nations retain full control over their own strategic and economic destinies.

The western-led unipolar system, built post-1945 and consolidated after the Cold War, is collapsing under its own weight. What Russian President Vladimir Putin refers to as a "new world order" is the emergence of a multipolar international architecture—a system where no single hegemon dictates global economic, financial, or political rules. Instead, sovereign nations collaborate as equals through expanded, representative platforms like BRICS.
The concept centers on dismantling the unilateral dominance of Western institutions (such as the IMF, World Bank, and UN Security Council) and replacing them with a system rooted in genuine multilateralism, national sovereignty, and non-interference. It replaces coercive measures—such as unilateral sanctions, trade blockades, and the weaponization of the US dollar—with local currency settlements, independent financial messaging systems, and equitable development networks.
While Putin has consistently advocated for multipolarity since his landmark 2007 Munich Security Conference address, his statements regarding BRICS serving as the core of this transformation were forcefully reiterated during the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi (September 12–13, 2026), following foundational expansions that began at the 2024 Kazan Summit.
He articulated this stance in response to weaponized Western sanctions, trade tariffs, and the freezing of sovereign assets following the Ukraine conflict. These actions accelerated a systemic rift, forcing the Global South and East to construct parallel, resilient trade and financial channels to protect their own economic sovereignty.
• De-Dollarization and Financial Autonomy: Trade among BRICS and partner nations increasingly bypasses the US dollar in favor of local currencies, backed by independent payment frameworks. Central banks worldwide are shifting reserves into physical gold and alternative currency baskets to guard against asset seizures.
• Shift in Global Economic Power: With the expansion of BRICS+, the bloc now commands roughly 40% of global GDP and nearly half the world’s population, outpacing the G7 in economic output and purchasing power parity.
• Institutional Restructuring: Western-centric bodies are losing their monopoly on global governance. The New Development Bank (NDB) and proposed BRICS platforms—such as independent grain exchanges and reinsurance mechanisms—offer developing nations viable alternatives without political conditionality.
• Geopolitical Realignment: The Global South is no longer bound to align with Western geopolitical imperatives, opting instead for strategic autonomy and trade partnerships that serve local national interests.
• Financial Infrastructure: Formal progress on a unified BRICS cross-border payment and settlement infrastructure designed to bypass SWIFT completely.
• Commodity Markets: Operationalization of the BRICS Grain Exchange to secure food security across developing nations without Western market manipulation.
• Expanded Footprint: Consensus on deeper integration for BRICS+ members (including Iran, Egypt, the UAE, and Ethiopia) alongside growing applications from dozens of Global South states seeking partner status.

Sana’a | 14 September 2026
The Bani Hashish tribe, a major tribal constituency in the Sana’a area aligned with Ansar Allah, is reportedly mobilizing fighters for deployment against forces backed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The reported mobilization comes as Yemen’s conflict enters a markedly more intense phase. Ansar Allah has made significant advances along the Red Sea coast, including the capture of strategic positions around Mokha and Mayun Island, bringing the Bab al-Mandab theatre directly into the wider regional confrontation.
The significance of Bani Hashish extends beyond the number of fighters it can mobilize. Tribal formations provide Ansar Allah with a local manpower reservoir, territorial familiarity, logistical depth and social networks that can sustain ground operations beyond conventional military units.
The immediate battlefield objective appears to be pressure on Saudi- and UAE-aligned formations as they attempt to regroup and launch counteroffensives. Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have already begun renewed operations along several fronts following recent territorial losses.
If the mobilization develops into an organized deployment, it would indicate that Ansar Allah is moving toward broader tribal-military integration as the conflict expands.
That matters because the current battlefield is no longer confined to isolated clashes. The fight now connects the Red Sea coast, Bab al-Mandab, western Yemen and Saudi territory into a single strategic theatre.
The Saudi position is becoming increasingly difficult. Riyadh is simultaneously dealing with attacks on military and energy infrastructure, pressure on its Red Sea access, and the need to reinforce Yemeni allies on the ground. Reuters and other reporting indicate that Washington has so far limited its role largely to intelligence support rather than committing directly to a major new ground intervention.
The mobilization of Bani Hashish therefore has significance beyond one tribe. It signals the potential expansion of Ansar Allah’s manpower base at precisely the moment when the Saudi-backed camp is attempting to recover the initiative.

🔴 YEMEN | THE AI WAR: HOW ANSAR ALLAH IS TURNING COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY INTO MILITARY LEVERAGE
Sana’a | September 2026
Anthropic’s latest threat-intelligence report has revealed that a weapons-development cell in northern Yemen used Claude Code to assist with military software development, including guidance, navigation, simulation and troubleshooting.
The reported programmes included a guided rocket, a multi-stage ballistic missile with a stated range exceeding 2,000 km, and a missile concept involving a hypersonic-glide configuration. Anthropic has not established that these AI-assisted systems were operationally deployed.
🔴 FROM BLOCKADE TO ADAPTATION
The significance lies in the combination visible in the images: commercial computing hardware, open-source software and frontier AI being integrated into a weapons-development environment.
For a force operating under sanctions and restricted access to advanced military technology, AI can reduce some of the expertise and time required for software development, simulation and technical troubleshooting.
🔴 THE BATTLEFIELD CONTEXT
This development comes alongside Ansar Allah’s expanding military capabilities and recent advances along Yemen’s Red Sea coast and around the Bab al-Mandab theatre.
Those battlefield gains cannot be attributed to AI. They reflect years of adaptation involving missiles, drones, intelligence, manpower, geography and combat experience.
AI represents a potential new layer in that system: accelerating the ability of relatively small technical teams to develop and refine military technologies.
🔴 STRATEGIC IMPLICATION
The real significance is not that AI has “won the war” for the Houthis.
It is that the technological barrier separating a non-state force from sophisticated military development is becoming less dependent on access to traditional defense industries.
The combination of commercial hardware, open-source knowledge and AI-assisted engineering could make rapid, low-cost military innovation an increasingly important feature of asymmetric warfare.

😱🚨 Ukraine Explores Legalizing Adult Content to Fund Military Drones
Ukraine is reportedly considering the decriminalization and taxation of adult content creation as an unconventional strategy to generate revenue for national defense. Under proposed legislative adjustments, taxing the adult entertainment industry could yield an estimated $25 million annually.
Government officials and proponents suggest these tax proceeds could be directly channeled into military procurement, specifically funding approximately 30,000 defense drones per year. Proponents argue that bringing the illicit or grey-market adult industry into a regulated tax framework serves a dual purpose: expanding the national tax base during wartime and bolstering frontline reconnaissance and operational capabilities.
Critics and lawmakers continue to debate the ethical and social implications of decriminalizing the sector, but the financial projection highlights Ukraine's focus on identifying internal revenue streams to sustain its defense infrastructure.

🔴 PERSIAN GULF | SECURITY RISKS AND LOGISTICS BOTTLENECKS RESHAPE THE REGIONAL BALANCE
14 September 2026
The security environment across the Persian Gulf is increasingly being shaped by the interaction of precision intelligence, vulnerable energy infrastructure and strategic maritime chokepoints.
🔹 PRECISION STRIKE CAPABILITY
Reports indicate that an Iranian strike that killed three U.S. service members involved the use of high-resolution Chinese satellite imagery to identify and target a U.S. military installation.
If confirmed, the episode would highlight a growing challenge for U.S. and allied forces: regional actors can increasingly combine foreign commercial or state-linked intelligence capabilities with precision-strike systems, complicating the protection of fixed military infrastructure.
🔹 THE ENERGY BOTTLENECK
Saudi Arabia is simultaneously facing pressure on its oil-export infrastructure. Disruption to the East-West pipeline, which carries crude from the Eastern Province toward Red Sea ports, has exposed the vulnerability of an alternative route designed to reduce dependence on Gulf maritime corridors.
Prolonged disruption could rapidly constrain export capacity and increase pressure on global oil markets.
🔹 HORMUZ BECOMES THE DIPLOMATIC CENTER
Against this backdrop, GCC states have sought an urgent meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, with security, transit guarantees and stability around the Strait of Hormuz expected to dominate the agenda.
The strategic picture is therefore becoming tightly interconnected: military precision affects base security, infrastructure attacks affect energy flows, and both increase the strategic importance of Hormuz.
The Persian Gulf is entering a period in which military risk, energy security and maritime access can no longer be treated as separate issues.
