🔴 Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Delivers Message of Thanks and Appreciation to the Iraqi People

📍 Baghdad

The Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sheikh Mohsen Qomi, stated that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had entrusted him with a message conveying his sincere greetings, thanks, and appreciation to the Iraqi people for their historic positions and broad solidarity during the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Imam, Sayyed Ali Khamenei — may God sanctify his pure soul — coinciding with the launch of events commemorating the 40th day since his burial.

Sheikh Qomi’s visit came two days after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s visit to Iraq. During his visit, Sheikh Qomi met with Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Chairman Faleh al-Fayyadh and a number of field commanders to convey this special message of gratitude.

During his meetings, Sheikh Qomi conveyed the Iranian leadership’s profound appreciation for the senior religious authority in Najaf, represented by Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, as well as for the Iraqi government and security forces.

He also praised the major role played by the Popular Mobilization Forces, the organizers of Husayni processions, and the large numbers of Iraqi citizens who participated in ensuring the success of the ceremonies.

He emphasized that the impressive turnout and popular solidarity reflect the deep-rooted bonds of affection and the unique character of relations between the two neighboring peoples—relations distinguished from those with other countries by the strong bonds of brotherhood that unite them.

ARREST OF SENIOR PMF STAFF OFFICER AND THREE PMF MEMBERS IN BAGHDAD

📍 Baghdad

🚨 A joint security force comprising the Counter-Terrorism Service and intelligence personnel arrested “Abu Jaafar,” a member of the PMF Staff Office, along with three PMF personnel, from his home in the Al-Baladiyat area in eastern Baghdad.

⚠️ The situation is no longer limited to targeting figures close to the armed factions. It is now developing into a deeper and more sensitive campaign targeting the core of the official institution itself, directly reaching the PMF Chief of Staff’s Office through the arrest of one of its prominent members.

This represents a dangerous and unprecedented escalation !

🛡️ A STRIKING CONTRADICTION ON THE GROUND

The operation comes amid a stark contradiction: it coincided with major security achievements by the PMF on the front lines.

⚔️ Most recently, PMF units — particularly Brigade 63 — displayed exceptional bravery in repelling a fierce attack launched by ISIS terrorist elements behind the Tuz Khurmatu mountains.

🇮🇶 While the PMF is confronting ISIS on the battlefield, elements within the Iraqi security establishment are simultaneously targeting senior figures within the organization.

⏱️ SUSPICIOUS TIMING & CONVERGING MESSAGES

The arrest comes at an extremely sensitive political and security moment, coinciding with several significant developments:

🔹 The aftermath of the release of Abbas Al-Yaqoubi, Director of Intelligence for Baghdad Operations in the PMF, accompanied by government efforts to ease tensions.

🔹 The recent visit of Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to Baghdad, only days before the arrest.

🔹The visit of Sheikh Mohsen Qomi, representative of the Iranian leadership, accompanied by reaffirmations of Tehran’s support for Iraq, its institutions, and the PMF.

🚨 The timing raises serious questions.

🇺🇸 It appears increasingly clear that the Americans are deeply concerned about these visits and the recent rapprochement, and are pressuring the Iraqi government toward greater escalation against the PMF.

⚠️ Such pressure risks producing consequences that could directly undermine Iraq’s internal stability.

🔥 Even attempts to moderate the political rhetoric and de-escalate tensions do not appear to satisfy those pushing for confrontation.

🎯 The emerging objective appears increasingly clear: to push the situation toward a new confrontation with the PMF — regardless of the consequences for Iraq’s security and sovereignty.

🇸🇾🇮🇱 FROM ISRAELI BOMBS TO SECURITY TALKS: DAMASCUS TURNS TO ISRAEL

🚨 SYRIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER SIGNALS RESUMPTION OF SECURITY TALKS WITH ISRAEL

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said he expects talks with Israel over a security agreement to resume soon, while urging Israel to seize what Damascus describes as a “historic opportunity.”

🇸🇾 According to al-Shaibani:

🔻
“Syria is extending its hand toward diplomacy”

and urging Israel to take advantage of this historic opportunity.

🔻
“If engagement with Israel does not produce results, we do not want it.”

📍 The statements come amid reports by Axios that senior Syrian and Israeli officials held a meeting on Sunday aimed at reducing tensions following an Israeli airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria.

🤝 According to the report, the meeting brought together Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Israeli security official Roman Gofman, only days after the Israeli strike.

Let that sink in:

🇮🇱 Israel bombs Syrian territory.

🤝 Damascus responds by preparing for renewed security negotiations with Israel.

🎯 This raises a fundamental question:

What exactly happened to Syrian sovereignty?

If Israel can bomb a Syrian military facility and, days later, sit down with senior Syrian officials to discuss a security arrangement, then the issue is no longer simply “de-escalation.”

It is about the strategic direction of the Syrian state itself.

⚠️ And there is a profound historical contradiction here.

The political project that brought Syria’s current leadership to power was built around confronting the Assad government and its allies.

Yet today, senior figures in Damascus are openly pursuing dialogue with the Israeli security establishment, even following an Israeli attack on Syrian territory.

🇮🇱 Israel has not suddenly become Syria’s friend.

Israel has repeatedly demonstrated that it will use military force to pursue its own strategic interests inside Syria.

What has changed is Damascus’s willingness to accommodate Israel.

📌 Ahmed al-Sharaa and his government simply emerged from the jihadist insurgency through Jabhat al-Nusra and its al-Qaeda lineage … let’s keep that in mind!

🔥 The forces that once presented themselves as part of a struggle against Syria’s “enemies” are now willing to negotiate directly with the state that is bombing Syrian territory.

And the question becomes even sharper:

If diplomatic engagement with Israel fails, as al-Shaibani himself says, what happens next ⁉️

Will Damascus demand an end to Israeli strikes ⁉️

Will it defend its territorial sovereignty⁉️

Or will the “security agreement” become a mechanism for managing — rather than confronting — Israel’s military presence and freedom of action in Syria⁉️

🇸🇾 A state cannot credibly speak of sovereignty while treating attacks on its territory as an invitation to negotiate a new security arrangement.

🚨

From Israeli airstrikes to security talks in a matter of days — this is not merely diplomacy. It is a strategic choice.

And Syrians have every right to ask:

Who is Damascus negotiating with — and what exactly is Syria being asked to surrender in return?

🔴 The real story is not that Syria is talking to Israel.

The real story is what Syria may be prepared to accept from Israel after being bombed by it.

THE PAPER TIGER ON WALL STREET: WASHINGTON’S “ECONOMIC D-DAY” AGAINST IRAN

🚨 When military coercion fails, Washington reaches for sanctions.

The Trump administration’s talk of an “economic D-Day” and the “largest financial attack in history” against Iran is being marketed as a display of overwhelming power.

But the strategic reality is less impressive:

Washington is shifting from military pressure to economic warfare because military coercion failed to force Tehran’s submission.

After direct threats and pressure in the Persian Gulf failed to deliver regime change without risking a potentially catastrophic regional war, Washington has returned to its most familiar weapon: financial strangulation.

🌍 THE MYTH OF A “GLOBAL” SANCTIONS FRONT

Washington can threaten the entire world with secondary sanctions—but it cannot make the entire world politically obedient.

🇪🇺 The Western bloc:
The EU, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia and other U.S.-aligned economies are the most likely to comply.

🌏 The Global South & Eurasia:
China, Russia and numerous Asian, Eurasian and regional economies have increasingly built mechanisms designed to reduce their exposure to Washington’s financial system.

🎯 The targets:
India, Türkiye, Iraq, the UAE and Central Asian states could face pressure if they maintain significant financial or commercial channels with Tehran.

Threatening foreign banks, shipping companies and sovereign trading partners with exclusion from the dollar system is not evidence of universal legitimacy.

It is evidence of financial coercion being used as a substitute for international consensus.

💸 CHINA IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FOR WASHINGTON

China’s continued economic relationship with Iran severely complicates any attempt to turn sanctions into an airtight blockade.

Beijing has developed alternative payment mechanisms, non-dollar trade channels and energy arrangements that reduce exposure to Western financial infrastructure.

For China, U.S. secondary sanctions are increasingly viewed not simply as Iran policy, but as part of a broader strategy of containing China itself.

Meanwhile, Russia and China’s engagement with Iran through BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Eurasian trade networks gives Tehran additional economic breathing space.

⚖️ SANCTIONS ≠ INTERNATIONAL LAW

Washington frequently presents unilateral sanctions as legitimate instruments of foreign policy.

But the legal picture is far more contested.

The United States can impose restrictions under its domestic law. The problem begins when Washington attempts to force sovereign third countries to obey those restrictions through secondary sanctions.

That raises fundamental questions of:

🔴 Sovereignty
🔴 Extraterritorial jurisdiction
🔴 Sovereign equality
🔴 Freedom of international commerce
🔴 Humanitarian consequences

The UN Security Council can impose binding international sanctions. Washington’s unilateral measures do not automatically acquire the same international legal authority simply because the U.S. dollar remains dominant.

🇮🇷 HOW CAN IRAN NEUTRALIZE THE SIEGE?

Tehran’s answer should not be merely defensive.

It should be structural.

💠 Expand local-currency trade
Increase settlement with China, Russia, India and regional partners in yuan, rubles, dinars and other national currencies.

💠 Reduce dependence on Western financial infrastructure
Build alternative clearing, payment and financial channels that minimize exposure to U.S.-controlled systems.

💠 Accelerate the INSTC
The International North–South Transport Corridor can strengthen Iran’s role as a critical transit bridge connecting Russia, Central Asia and India.

💠 Move further downstream
Increase exports of refined petroleum products, petrochemicals and higher-value industrial goods rather than relying overwhelmingly on crude exports.

💠 Use international legal mechanisms
Challenge the extraterritorial application of U.S. sanctions where viable and pursue diplomatic and legal coalitions against unilateral coercive measures.

🔥 THE STRATEGIC PARADOX

Washington calls it an “economic D-Day.”

But there is another way to read it.

When a superpower moves from military threats to financial warfare, it may not be demonstrating unlimited power.

It may be demonstrating the limits of its military options.

Iran has spent more than four decades adapting to sanctions.

The latest financial offensive may therefore produce an outcome Washington does not want:

accelerated de-dollarization, deeper Eurasian integration, alternative payment systems—and a world increasingly determined to escape U.S. financial jurisdiction.

🇮🇷 The question is no longer whether Washington can sanction Iran.

It is whether Washington can still make the rest of the world obey.

🔴 Quick Settlement and Handover of Detainees.. Muhannad Al-Oqabi Announces Resolution of "Confusion" Surrounding Arrest of PMF Arms Director

📍 Iraq

The Director of the Media Directorate in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) 🇮🇶, Muhannad Al-Oqabi, announced in a tweet the resolution of the confusion regarding the detainees .

He noted that they have been handed over to PMF Security to follow up on their case with the Iraqi Judiciary

A joint force had previously arrested the Director of Arms (Branches) in the PMF, Commander Akram Al-Tamimi (Abu Jaafar) , along with three PMF members from his home in the Al-Baladiyat area in eastern Baghdad —a serious development targeting high-ranking leadership within the institution .

In contrast to the previous crisis surrounding the arrest of Baghdad Belt Intelligence Director Abbas Al-Yaqoobi and the accompanying tension , the situation this time was settled, and the detainees were handed over in a short timeframe and without fanfare .

Despite the rapid containment of the situation , urgent questions remain regarding the real reasons behind these repeated arrests , who stands behind issuing the orders , and whether this represents the prelude to a series of targetings aimed at muddying the waters and keeping the security institution under constant pressure ⁉️.

THE IRANIAN AMBASSADOR AT THE CENTER OF THE CONFRONTATION: IS LEBANESE DIPLOMACY BECOMING AN ARENA FOR SECTARIAN WAR?

🚨 Between the South and diplomatic escalation: Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Reza Sheibani’s case enters a decisive phase

According to the headline of Yedioth Ahronoth, today appears set to mark the final chapter in the Lebanese-Iranian standoff over the legal status of Iran’s designated ambassador to Beirut, Mohammad Reza Sheibani, coinciding with the expiration of his visa.

The newspaper reports that the Lebanese authorities have designated Sheibani a “persona non grata”, while Iran has kept him at its embassy until the expiration date of his visa, in defiance of the Lebanese decision.

According to the newspaper, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji had declared his categorical rejection of any attempt to circumvent what Beirut considers a sovereign decision, arguing that designating Sheibani as persona non grata requires his expulsion after he has lost the legal basis for remaining in Lebanon.

But the most significant development is that, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, Tehran recently presented Beirut with a proposal to appoint a chargé d’affaires as part of a settlement concerning Sheibani’s status.

The Lebanese response, however, was negative, rejecting any settlement concerning Sheibani and linking the matter to the appointment of his replacement.

⚠️ This is where the issue goes beyond a visa dispute or a diplomatic protocol matter.

The Israeli newspaper itself links the case to the escalating tensions in Lebanese-Iranian relations, what it describes as continued Iranian officials’ support for Hezbollah, and the view of Lebanon as a key arena in the conflict between Tehran and Washington.

The newspaper also connects the issue to Iran’s responses to recent U.S. sanctions against Hezbollah and to Washington’s attempt to redefine the group as an organization linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps rather than as a Lebanese national movement.

🔥 And here lies the more dangerous question:

Are we witnessing a limited diplomatic and legal dispute over the status of an ambassador?

Or is the Iranian ambassador’s case being used as a tool in a broader political and regional confrontation—one extending from U.S. sanctions against Hezbollah to Lebanese-Iranian relations and, ultimately, to the future of Lebanon’s internal balance?

🇮🇷 As for Mohammad Reza Sheibani, it is a mistake to reduce his case to a visa issue.

He represents a state that maintains official diplomatic relations with Lebanon, and Iran has the right to defend the status of its diplomatic representative in accordance with international rules and diplomatic norms.

More importantly: A dispute with Iran must not be turned into a pretext for targeting Lebanon’s Shia community or politically punishing it because of its political choices or regional relationships.

🔴 If this is a diplomatic dispute, then let it be resolved diplomatically.

But if the ambassador’s case becomes a tool to tighten the pressure on Hezbollah—and then on the Lebanese Shia community associated with it—we are facing something far more serious than a diplomatic crisis.

We are facing a sectarian war being waged through diplomatic instruments.

🇱🇧 Lebanese sovereignty must not become a selective slogan used to target one particular Lebanese community or political constituency.

Defending the Iranian ambassador’s right to fair diplomatic treatment does not mean abandoning Lebanese sovereignty. It means rejecting the transformation of diplomatic institutions into instruments of a sectarian and regional political conflict.

🔥 If the objective is to protect the state, then sovereignty and the law must be applied equally to everyone.

But if the Sheibani case is merely a façade for targeting Iran, Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Shia community, then the truth must be stated clearly:

This is not merely a diplomatic battle over an ambassador.

ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE PROPHET’S BIRTH… SOUTHERN LEBANON UNDER FIRE: WHERE IS JUSTICE IN THE FACE OF AGGRESSION?

On the blessed anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ birth, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued a message congratulating the Lebanese people in general, and Muslims and the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations in particular. He expressed his hope that the occasion would represent a renewed birth of the faith-based and prophetic values embodied by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ—values of mercy, hope, and the completion of noble character.

Berri stressed that religious occasions should not remain merely passing celebrations, but should instead become a daily practice of prophetic values and teachings.

He also affirmed that these values were established to lay the foundations of justice and preserve and protect human dignity.

But the true test of values is not in congratulations; it is in one’s position when the oppressed are under fire.

On the very same day that we commemorate the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the values of mercy, justice, and dignity, southern Lebanon is facing a continuing series of Israeli attacks.

Below is a summary of today’s Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon:

✈️ Airstrikes:
• Ali al-Taher
• Al-Dabsha
• Nabatieh al-Fawqa

🚌 Artillery shelling:
• Baraashit
• Beit Yahoun
• Ali al-Taher
• Al-Dabsha
• Douha Kfar Roummane
• Al-Qantara
• Al-Mansouri
• Mays al-Jabal
• Adshit al-Qusayr
• Sarbine

💣 Phosphorus attacks:
• Ali al-Taher
• Douha Kfar Roummane

💥 Explosions:
• Al-Mansouri fields toward Majdal Zoun
• Kounine
• Eastern Zawtar
• Outskirts of Majdal Zoun

💥 Drone and munitions attacks:
• Incendiary materials between Al-Haniyeh and Al-Qulayleh
• Explosive materials targeting the Ali al-Taher area
• Sound bombs over Al-Mansouri
• A sound bomb targeting a bulldozer in Yater

💚 Ground movements and attacks:
• A Merkava tank shelled Al-Mansouri.
• Israeli military vehicles were observed moving in the town of Hadatha.
• Homes were set ablaze in Eastern Zawtar and Hadatha.
• Illumination flares were fired over Al-Dhuhayra, accompanied by machine-gun fire toward Sheihin.

🔥 And therefore, the question to Speaker Nabih Berri is not about the content of his message, but about its implementation:

What have we learned from the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about defending the vulnerable, standing with the oppressed, and confronting aggressors?

Because shelling does not wait for statements, dignity cannot be protected through speeches alone, and justice cannot be selective.

🔴 This is the contradiction that cannot be ignored:

On a day that reminds us of a message of mercy, justice, and dignity, southern Lebanon is living under airstrikes, shelling, and destruction.

May Lebanon and its people remain safe and well, and may southern Lebanon and its steadfast people remain safe and strong.

🔵 CONFINING LIFE TO ISRAEL’S CONTROL

📍 Gaza

In a scene that reflects dimensions far deeper than merely a passing security incident, the Gaza Strip has witnessed a strange and disturbing development in recent days. Simple kites, made from lightweight materials and inherently incapable of carrying anything—designed merely to fly as toys made of paper, nylon, and string—have been turned into the subject of an unprecedented security and political escalation by the Israeli establishment.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz held a security assessment meeting, following which they issued direct and public threats, warning of assassination operations and the evacuation of entire residential neighborhoods in Gaza. Israeli media and Katz described this simple act of play as an “act of war” and “kite terrorism,” despite the official acknowledgment that the kites were carrying nothing.

In the same context, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant considered this situation evidence of the government’s failure to disarm Hamas, arguing that the movement was “raising its head again.”

This manufactured hysteria—turning simple children’s toys into terrifying terrorist threats—raises serious questions about Netanyahu’s real objectives and Israeli policies, particularly amid the efforts of Trump’s “Peace Council” and other political tracks.

We are no longer speaking merely about “restricting weapons” or disarming them. We have gone far beyond that, into a stage of “restricting life” under Israel’s control.

They want to control everything. If they had the ability to deprive the people of Gaza of air itself, they would do so. They are seeking to destroy and erase every manifestation of ordinary life—even to steal any smile from the faces of children.

What breaks the heart and captures the reality of this scene is what we see in this video: a Palestinian child, overcome with anguish, tearing apart his simple kite and crying bitterly following the threats and bombardment that struck Gaza under this flimsy pretext.

And amid all this systematic destruction, there are still those who continue to place their hopes in negotiations or agreements with entities such as these!

🔴 Iran Tightens Control Over Hormuz as Tehran Moves to Enforce Maritime Sovereignty

✍️By Milad Rezaei
Geopolitical Analyst

According to reports from Western media outlets, including Reuters, the Islamic Republic of Iran has placed 45 foreign oil tankers that violated regulations—including vessels linked to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea—on a blacklist. The move forms part of Tehran’s broader effort to assert national sovereignty and reinforce its authority over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian maritime authorities have formally warned that the blacklisted vessels, as well as ships associated with them, face the possibility of seizure, fines, and cargo confiscation. The measure highlights Tehran’s determination to exercise its maritime authority over the security and commercial traffic passing through one of the world’s most critical waterways.

The development carries broader geopolitical significance. For Iran, control and enforcement within the Strait of Hormuz are not merely matters of maritime regulation; they are closely connected to the country’s broader conception of sovereignty and its ability to resist external pressure.

Maritime Enforcement and Domestic Compensation

In a related development, and in response to what Iranian officials describe as unjust sanctions imposed on the Iranian people, a U.S.-owned oil cargo seized in the Persian Gulf in 1402 (2023–2024) has been sold pursuant to a judicial order.

According to the article, proceeds from the sale have been allocated to compensate and support patients suffering from epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Within this framework, Iran’s exercise of maritime authority is presented not only in defensive and security terms, but also as an instrument for advancing the rights and interests of Iranian citizens facing the consequences of external pressure.

This linkage between maritime enforcement and domestic compensation reflects a broader Iranian political narrative: actions taken against foreign interests are portrayed as part of a wider effort to protect national sovereignty and offset what Tehran considers the economic and humanitarian consequences of sanctions.

The Cost of Iran’s Perceived Regional Power

An increasingly widespread view within Iranian political circles holds that, in today’s international environment, other powerful states—despite having witnessed how Iran and its allies struck their nuclear-armed adversary—lack the courage even to impose verbal sanctions on the United States.

According to this perspective, the power and influence accumulated by Iran and its partners were not acquired cheaply. They were secured through the blood of numerous commanders, ordinary citizens, the martyred leader, and his family.

This perception is central to the Iranian political understanding of the country’s current regional and international position. The argument is that Iran’s ability to withstand pressure and exercise influence has been built through substantial human and political sacrifice, rather than emerging simply from conventional state power.

Resistance to External Pressure

Within Iran’s political power structure, there is also a conviction that foreign adversaries, together with aligned domestic infiltrators, will stop at nothing to undermine Iran’s international standing and ultimately force the country into submission.

From this viewpoint, the dispute over maritime enforcement in the Strait of Hormuz forms part of a much larger confrontation over sovereignty, sanctions, regional power, and Iran’s ability to resist external coercion.

The blacklisting of foreign tankers and the seizure and subsequent sale of U.S.-owned oil cargo therefore fit into a broader political narrative in which Tehran seeks to demonstrate that external pressure will not automatically translate into Iranian compliance.

“THE DUMBEST TRADE WAR” ESCALATES AGAIN — WASHINGTON AND OTTAWA HEADED FOR AN OPEN CONFRONTATION

The trade war between the United States and Canada is no longer just a war of mutual threats. After negotiations collapsed at the last minute, Washington has entered a new phase of escalation, while Ottawa is preparing a reciprocal trade response.

🇺🇸 TRUMP RAISES THE STAKES

On August 22, an additional 50% U.S. tariff went into effect on approximately $20 billion worth of Canadian imports, using Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930—an old legal instrument that has rarely been used in this manner. Affected goods include products such as alcoholic beverages, cement, paper, textiles, and hockey equipment.

Negotiations had appeared close to reaching an agreement before collapsing over disagreements regarding tariffs and Washington’s conditions concerning Canadian trade policy and key sectors such as automobiles.

🇨🇦 CARNEY REFUSES TO BACK DOWN

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada would respond “dollar for dollar” beginning September 8, while the Canadian government was preparing to announce a new package of measures today, August 25, to protect affected workers and businesses.

But the crisis is no longer limited to the current tariffs.

🚨 TRUMP OPENS A NEW FRONT: AUTOS

In the latest escalation, Trump threatened to impose 50% tariffs on cars, trucks, and auto parts manufactured in Canada starting January 1, 2027—a move that could disrupt one of the most deeply integrated supply chains in North America. Shares of major automakers have fallen, while the industry has warned that targeting Canadian components could ultimately hurt U.S. production itself.

📉 THE ECONOMIC PARADOX

The United States and Canada are tied together by nearly $900 billion in annual trade, while the automotive industries in both countries depend on a cross-border production network.

Therefore, imposing tariffs on Canadian inputs does not necessarily mean punishing Canada alone. It could also increase production costs inside the United States, putting additional pressure on American companies and consumers.

In Canada, the consequences could be even more immediate, particularly for the automotive, steel, and aluminum sectors. But the confrontation is increasingly becoming a battle over economic sovereignty, rather than simply a dispute over tariffs.

💥 FROM TRADE TO SOVEREIGNTY

Carney rejected U.S. conditions that he viewed as infringing on Canadian interests and sovereignty, including issues involving the French language, strategic materials, and Canada’s ability to negotiate independent trade agreements with other partners.

The question, therefore, is no longer simply:

Who will win the tariff war?

It has become:

Can the United States weaponize Canada’s dependence on the American market without forcing its own industries and consumers to pay a corresponding price?

🇺🇸 Washington is betting that Canada cannot afford to do without the U.S. market.

🇨🇦 Ottawa is betting that the cost of economic separation from Canada will also be painful for the United States.

⚠️ THE BIGGEST RISK: This round of trade warfare could evolve from a temporary dispute into a long-term restructuring of the economic relationship between the two countries—particularly if Canada seriously begins diversifying its trade and reducing its dependence on the U.S. market.

FREEZING THE CRISIS WITH IRAN: SIX MONTHS EXPOSE THE LIMITS OF YOUSSEF RAJJI’S INFLUENCE AND THE CALCULATIONS OF THE LEBANESE FORCES

The diplomatic crisis between Beirut and Tehran has not ended; it has been frozen.

Following the Lebanese authorities’ decision to withdraw the accreditation of Iran’s designated ambassador to Beirut, Mohammad Reza Sheibani, the crisis has entered a temporary settlement phase—one that has revealed something more significant than the diplomatic dispute itself: the limits of certain Lebanese political forces in imposing their agenda unilaterally.

🇮🇷 THE IRANIAN AMBASSADOR REMAINS IN BEIRUT

Lebanon’s General Security Directorate offered a middle-ground solution, granting Ambassador Mohammad Reza Sheibani a six-month “courtesy residency” in his capacity as a diplomat and former ambassador.

The political meaning is clear:

No new diplomatic recognition for Sheibani.
No official reversal of the decision to withdraw his accreditation.
🔴But, at the same time, the Iranian ambassador will not leave Beirut.

In other words, the crisis has shifted from an open-ended escalation to a temporary administrative and political truce.

💥 BUT THE REAL SURPRISE CAME FROM WITHIN LEBANON

Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji sought to push for a tougher position, but domestic political calculations and legal considerations prevented the dispute from turning into an actual diplomatic rupture.

And this raises an obvious contradiction:

How can a foreign minister handle such a sensitive issue as though Lebanon has the luxury of entering into an open confrontation with Iran, while the country is already under enormous security, political, and economic pressure?

Rajji, who belongs to the Lebanese Forces party led by Samir Geagea, represents a political current that has long adopted highly polarizing rhetoric toward Hezbollah and the Shiite community, as well as a hardline position on Lebanon’s relations with Iran.

But foreign policy is not a platform for partisan grandstanding.

🇱🇧 Lebanon does not belong to the Lebanese Forces, nor should the Foreign Ministry become an arena for ideological score-settling with Tehran—or with any other Lebanese political faction.

More dangerously, turning the dispute with Iran into an internal battle over identity risks reproducing the very sectarian divisions for which Lebanon has already paid an enormous price.

⚠️ YOUSSEF RAJJI FACES A REAL TEST:

Will he act as the foreign minister of all Lebanon, or as a political official carrying his party’s calculations into the country’s foreign policy?

If the Lebanese state genuinely wants to enforce the law, then let the law be clear and applied equally to everyone.

But using state institutions to impose the agenda of one political camp against another does not strengthen the state; it turns the state itself into a party to Lebanon’s internal divisions.

📍 THE BOTTOM LINE:

The Iranian ambassadorial crisis has not been resolved.

It has been frozen for six months.

The settlement has demonstrated that Beirut cannot easily turn a diplomatic decision into a political rupture, and that Lebanon’s balance of power is far more complicated than the calculations some actors have attempted to impose.

As for Rajji, he must answer the most important question:

Does he want to build a balanced Lebanese foreign policy, or does he want to drag Lebanese diplomacy into the battles of the Lebanese Forces and its political axis?

Because Lebanon cannot afford to turn its Foreign Ministry into yet another instrument in the war of regional axes and sectarian divisions.

THE FRONTLINES OF RESISTANCE: SYSTEMATIC AGGRESSION AND THE BATTLE FOR SOUTHERN LEBANON

South Lebanon is no longer witnessing isolated incidents along a contested frontier. The operational pattern points to a systematic campaign of territorial encroachment, infrastructure destruction, and sustained military pressure aimed at reshaping the security reality south of the Litani.

Israeli media, including Yedioth Ahronoth, have reported that despite intensive bombardment, Israeli forces remain reluctant to launch a full-scale underground operation in strategically sensitive areas such as the Ali al-Taher heights—not because the terrain is insignificant, but precisely because of the risks involved.

The calculation is clear: a deeper ground operation could trigger a much wider regional escalation.

🔴 THE FRONTLINE: ADVANCE, DEMOLITION, AND FIRE

Israeli engineering and combat units continue to operate across multiple sectors of southern Lebanon.

📍 Ground advances & earthworks

Israeli forces have advanced toward Sawan Hill near Meifdoune, establishing tactical positions around local infrastructure.

Between Deir Mimas, Borj el-Mlouk and Kfar Kila, heavy D9 bulldozers have been used to construct large earthen berms toward Tel Nahhas, reportedly approaching within roughly 150 metres of residential homes.

Additional engineering activity has been reported around Houra, while D9 bulldozers and armored vehicles have demolished homes between Hariss and Hadatha, destroyed school facilities in Meiss el-Jabal, and prepared structures for controlled detonations in Doubayh.

💥 ARTILLERY AND AIR POWER

Heavy artillery fire has targeted:

Meifdoune • Zoutar el-Charkiyeh • Douhat Kfar Roumane • Ali al-Taher • Houla • Wadi al-Salouqi • El-Mansouri • Ainata • Yater • Deir Mimas • Hilta • Wadi Zibqine

Airstrikes have additionally hit:

Douhat Kfar Roumane • El-Qantara • Houla • El-Mansouri • Beyout el-Siad

🛻 DEMOLITIONS AND INCENDIARY ATTACKS

Controlled demolitions have been reported in Hadatha, Kfar Tebnit, Majdal Zoun, Et-Taibe, Hariss, Zoutar el-Charkiyeh, Houla and Meiss el-Jabal.

Incendiary strikes have triggered fires near Deir Mimas, while smoke/phosphorus munitions have reportedly been used alongside Merkava tank movements toward El-Mansouri and Shanouh.

🚨 EVEN RESCUE CREWS ARE BEING TARGETED

Drone-dropped stun munitions reportedly targeted civil-defense personnel operating in Douhat Kfar Roumane.

Yet despite the danger, Lebanese Civil Defense carried out 175 missions in just 24 hours:

🔥 110 firefighting operations
🚑 29 emergency transports
🛠 28 general-service missions
🛡 8 public-safety operations

This is what the frontline looks like: destruction on one side, rescue and survival on the other.
