Iran Grants Iraqi Oil Tankers Special Passage Through the Strait of Hormuz
Iraq relies heavily on maritime export routes through the Gulf, while continued restrictions on navigation through Hormuz have put pressure on its oil exports. According to recent data, only 7 commercial vessels transited the strait on Thursday, with no large crude oil tankers or LNG carriers among them.
🛢️ Therefore, the special authorization for Iraqi tankers does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz has returned to normal operations. Rather, it indicates that Tehran is able to manage specific exemptions for maritime traffic while broader transit remains restricted.
What has taken place is a limited exemption for Iraqi tankers, not a comprehensive reopening of the strait. At the same time, it highlights the importance of diplomatic channels between Baghdad and Tehran in protecting Iraq’s oil interests amid the ongoing regional maritime and energy crisis.

Four Years Without Dasha — A Grief That Transcends Borders
The words of Natalia Melentieva to her daughter, Darya Dugina — “Dasha Aletheia” — resonate far beyond Russia. They express a universal human grief shared by every mother who has lost a daughter to violence, leaving behind a silence where laughter and life once filled the space.
In southern Lebanon, many mothers carry the same wound. We remember the young women Farah Omar, Fatima Ftouni, and Amal Khalil, who were martyred while carrying out their mission of reporting the truth, alongside other female journalists and media workers who faced the bombardment and chose to carry words and cameras in the face of death.
Their loss, like Darya’s, reminds us of a bitter truth: when truth becomes a threat to those who fear it, the very word itself becomes a target.
The names and slogans of the perpetrators may differ — from neo-Nazis in Ukraine to Israeli Zionists — but the violence they perpetrate converges in its rejection of justice and its attempt to silence voices that expose injustice and defend life.
The memory of Darya, like the memory of Lebanon’s daughters, is not merely a remembrance of personal loss. It is part of a collective memory of resistance — a resistance that refuses to let violence determine our future or allow death to have the final word.
Truth remains alive as long as there is someone willing to tell it, and memory remains an act of resistance as long as there are those who refuse to forget.

Field Aggression and Political Arrogance: How Southern Violations and Netanyahu’s Statements Expose the Failure of Lebanon’s Political Proposals
What is happening in southern Lebanon today is not merely a “series of isolated violations.” It is the systematic implementation of the enemy’s strategy of imposing surrender through firepower, while a sober political reading exposes the illusion of a “free settlement” that some are attempting to promote inside Lebanon.
The Israeli occupation forces are exploiting the silence and procedural cover provided by the official Lebanese authorities to escalate their attacks aimed at clearing the border area and destroying its infrastructure:
The enemy is focusing on erasing the residential fabric of frontline towns. Its forces have advanced into Mays al-Jabal and booby-trapped what remains of homes in order to demolish them, alongside intensive explosions in Mansouri (4), Taybeh (3), and Bint Jbeil (2), as well as the deliberate burning of homes in Beit Yahoun and Kounine.
Tanks and bulldozers advanced toward the outskirts of Baraachit, Shaama, and Bani Hayyan, under artillery cover targeting Mansouri (4 strikes), Mays al-Jabal (3), the Ali al-Taher Heights (3), Houla, Wadi al-Salouqi, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Direct targeting of civilians continued, including five airstrikes on Wadi Sarbin and Ali al-Taher, along with seven attacks by drones, including the dropping of explosive materials and bombs on shepherds in Sarbin and Haddatha.
This was accompanied by intensive heavy-machine-gun fire targeting Haddatha, Majdal Zoun, and Aita al-Jabal.
This comprehensive escalation on the ground perfectly reflects the political doctrine articulated unequivocally by Benjamin Netanyahu:
“As long as I am prime minister, there will be no Palestinian state… not in Gaza, not in the West Bank. Period.”
This Israeli intransigence demonstrates that the enemy understands only the language of the balance of power, undermining the calculations of some Lebanese parties that concessions can be offered for free.
The battlefield therefore intersects directly with the domestic and regional political landscape:
🏛️ The Domestic Position Exposed
Walid Jumblatt highlighted the extent of Lebanon’s internal confusion, stating that:
“The theorizing of defeat and surrender under the slogan of exclusive weapons possession has been spreading among the newly affluent.”
He also condemned the adoption by official bodies of a framework document that, he argued, lacks any legal basis and ignores the Armistice Agreement.
Meanwhile, U.S. envoy Tom Barrack offered a reflection of the realities on the ground, acknowledging that any serious settlement cannot bypass Hezbollah and Iran, and that attempting to bring Lebanese parties together without them would amount to an illusory negotiation disconnected from the actual balance of power being shaped on the battlefield in southern Lebanon.

🇺🇸🤡 Trump Continues His Colonial Delirium… Tehran Warns: Tampering With Our Interests Could Trigger an “Earthquake”! In a new escalation, U.S. President Donald Trump published a map of the Strait of Hormuz, referring to it as “new American territory” —…
THE DELUSION AT THE CHOKEPOINT: TRUMP’S MARITIME FANTASY
When Donald Trump amplified the claim on Truth Social that “we’ve escorted over 1,000 ships through the Strait of Hormuz,” the reaction from anyone familiar with maritime operations should be simple:
That claim demands serious scrutiny.
From the perspective of naval operations, maritime logistics, and geopolitics, the number raises fundamental questions about what is actually meant by “escorted.”
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow, heavily trafficked maritime chokepoint exposed to asymmetric threats, including fast attack craft, anti-ship missiles, mines, and other forms of maritime disruption.
Physically escorting more than 1,000 individual commercial vessels would require an enormous and sustained naval presence.
The U.S. Navy does not simply attach a destroyer to every tanker, container ship, or bulk carrier passing through the Strait.
Maritime security normally relies on a combination of:
• Maritime domain awareness
• AIS and vessel tracking
• Traffic Separation Schemes
• Intelligence and surveillance
• Naval patrols
• Convoy operations when specifically required
• Deterrence and rapid-response capabilities
Calling every protected or monitored transit an “escort” can dramatically distort what actually happened operationally.
During the 1980s Tanker War, Washington launched Operation Earnest Will, reflagging and escorting Kuwaiti tankers through the Gulf.
That was one of the most significant U.S. maritime protection operations of the era.
Even then, the scale of actual convoy escort operations was nowhere near the image of a modern U.S. Navy personally shepherding more than 1,000 commercial vessels through Hormuz.
🌊 AND THEN THERE IS THE “NEW AMERICAN LAND” CLAIM
Trump’s rhetoric about the Strait of Hormuz as “new American land” is even more revealing.
International straits are not pieces of real estate that can simply be claimed by presidential declaration.
The Strait of Hormuz is governed by an extraordinarily sensitive combination of international maritime law, coastal-state sovereignty, navigational rights, and strategic power balances.
The historical irony is striking.
When Xerxes I famously ordered the Hellespont to be punished after a storm destroyed his bridge, the gesture became a symbol of imperial arrogance toward nature itself.
Treating a vital international waterway as if it were personal property belongs to the same political tradition — except today the imperial gesture is made on Truth Social.
The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one-fifth of global petroleum and LNG flows and remains one of the world’s most strategically sensitive energy chokepoints.
Its security cannot be reduced to social-media declarations.
It depends on:
🇺🇸 military deterrence
🤝 international coordination
🛰️ maritime surveillance
⚖️ international law
🕊️ diplomatic de-escalation
🚢 and the actual movement of commercial shipping
The Gulf is not a video game.
A president can repost a map.
He can announce numbers.
He can declare victory.
But ships, sea lanes, naval logistics and international law do not operate according to Truth Social.

TRUMP MOBILIZES HIS BASE: A REPUBLICAN LOSS COULD MEAN IMPEACHMENT AND A PARALYZED PRESIDENCY
📅 Date: August 22, 2026
🔎 Source: The Telegraph
During a campaign rally in South Carolina, Trump attacked the prospect of Democrats regaining control of Congress, warning that they would seek to dismantle his economic agenda and border policies, turning the remainder of his presidency into an open political confrontation.
In South Carolina, Trump is also seeking to test his ability to influence the Republican base by backing loyal candidates in the primaries, amid setbacks suffered by some of his endorsed candidates in recent contests.
The real battle, therefore, is not simply over congressional seats, but over the future of Trump’s presidency and his ability to govern.
If Republicans lose Congress, will Trump enter the second half of his term facing a hostile legislative branch?
And will the midterm elections effectively become a referendum on Trump himself?

RETHINKING THE EMPIRE: US GULF BASES TURN FROM ASSETS TO TARGETS
📅 DATE: August 23, 2026
🔎 SOURCE: Financial Times
Months of direct exchanges with Iran have cast significant doubt on the future of the vast U.S. military footprint across the Persian Gulf. Massive installations constructed since the 1990s—once viewed as essential anchors of American power projection—have turned into concentrated vulnerabilities under sustained barrages of short-range ballistic missiles and low-cost attack drones.
Tehran's strikes have exposed a structural flaw in the U.S. regional posture: expansive, immovable airbases and naval facilities offer large radar signatures and predictable targets. Rather than deterring so-called ‘hostile action’ , these fixed installations have forced Washington to consume high-value air defense interceptors to defend stationary brick-and-mortar assets, creating an asymmetrical cost imbalance favored by cheap Iranian attritional weaponry.
Strategic analysts note that the military utility of facilities like Al Udeid in Qatar or Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain is shifting from deterrence to liability.
Defense scholars suggest the Pentagon will inevitably reweight its military posture away from the Persian Gulf, favoring dispersed, mobile, and longer-range capabilities operating further outside the direct envelope of Iranian strike systems.
However, Washington faces a major strategic dilemma. Retracting or downsizing these bases carries immense geopolitical risk, threatening to signal a withdrawal that adversaries could exploit. U.S. planners must balance necessary tactical shifts against the imperative to combat the regional perception of
"cutting and running,"
which could further alter the balance of power in favor of Tehran and its regional partners.

📍 Baghdad
The Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sheikh Mohsen Qomi, stated that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had entrusted him with a message conveying his sincere greetings, thanks, and appreciation to the Iraqi people for their historic positions and broad solidarity during the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Imam, Sayyed Ali Khamenei — may God sanctify his pure soul — coinciding with the launch of events commemorating the 40th day since his burial.
Sheikh Qomi’s visit came two days after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s visit to Iraq. During his visit, Sheikh Qomi met with Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Chairman Faleh al-Fayyadh and a number of field commanders to convey this special message of gratitude.
During his meetings, Sheikh Qomi conveyed the Iranian leadership’s profound appreciation for the senior religious authority in Najaf, represented by Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, as well as for the Iraqi government and security forces.
He also praised the major role played by the Popular Mobilization Forces, the organizers of Husayni processions, and the large numbers of Iraqi citizens who participated in ensuring the success of the ceremonies.
He emphasized that the impressive turnout and popular solidarity reflect the deep-rooted bonds of affection and the unique character of relations between the two neighboring peoples—relations distinguished from those with other countries by the strong bonds of brotherhood that unite them.

ARREST OF SENIOR PMF STAFF OFFICER AND THREE PMF MEMBERS IN BAGHDAD
📍 Baghdad
This represents a dangerous and unprecedented escalation !
🛡️ A STRIKING CONTRADICTION ON THE GROUND
The operation comes amid a stark contradiction: it coincided with major security achievements by the PMF on the front lines.
⚔️ Most recently, PMF units — particularly Brigade 63 — displayed exceptional bravery in repelling a fierce attack launched by ISIS terrorist elements behind the Tuz Khurmatu mountains.
🇮🇶 While the PMF is confronting ISIS on the battlefield, elements within the Iraqi security establishment are simultaneously targeting senior figures within the organization.
⏱️ SUSPICIOUS TIMING & CONVERGING MESSAGES
The arrest comes at an extremely sensitive political and security moment, coinciding with several significant developments:

🇸🇾🇮🇱 FROM ISRAELI BOMBS TO SECURITY TALKS: DAMASCUS TURNS TO ISRAEL
🚨 SYRIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER SIGNALS RESUMPTION OF SECURITY TALKS WITH ISRAEL
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said he expects talks with Israel over a security agreement to resume soon, while urging Israel to seize what Damascus describes as a “historic opportunity.”
🇸🇾 According to al-Shaibani:
🔻
and urging Israel to take advantage of this historic opportunity.
🔻
📍 The statements come amid reports by Axios that senior Syrian and Israeli officials held a meeting on Sunday aimed at reducing tensions following an Israeli airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria.
🤝 According to the report, the meeting brought together Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Israeli security official Roman Gofman, only days after the Israeli strike.
❗ Let that sink in:
🇮🇱 Israel bombs Syrian territory.
🤝 Damascus responds by preparing for renewed security negotiations with Israel.
🎯 This raises a fundamental question:
What exactly happened to Syrian sovereignty?
If Israel can bomb a Syrian military facility and, days later, sit down with senior Syrian officials to discuss a security arrangement, then the issue is no longer simply “de-escalation.”
It is about the strategic direction of the Syrian state itself.
⚠️ And there is a profound historical contradiction here.
The political project that brought Syria’s current leadership to power was built around confronting the Assad government and its allies.
Yet today, senior figures in Damascus are openly pursuing dialogue with the Israeli security establishment, even following an Israeli attack on Syrian territory.
🇮🇱 Israel has not suddenly become Syria’s friend.
Israel has repeatedly demonstrated that it will use military force to pursue its own strategic interests inside Syria.
What has changed is Damascus’s willingness to accommodate Israel.
📌 Ahmed al-Sharaa and his government simply emerged from the jihadist insurgency through Jabhat al-Nusra and its al-Qaeda lineage … let’s keep that in mind!
🔥 The forces that once presented themselves as part of a struggle against Syria’s “enemies” are now willing to negotiate directly with the state that is bombing Syrian territory.
And the question becomes even sharper:
If diplomatic engagement with Israel fails, as al-Shaibani himself says, what happens next⁉️
Will Damascus demand an end to Israeli strikes⁉️
Will it defend its territorial sovereignty⁉️
Or will the “security agreement” become a mechanism for managing — rather than confronting — Israel’s military presence and freedom of action in Syria⁉️
🇸🇾 A state cannot credibly speak of sovereignty while treating attacks on its territory as an invitation to negotiate a new security arrangement.
🚨
From Israeli airstrikes to security talks in a matter of days — this is not merely diplomacy. It is a strategic choice.
And Syrians have every right to ask:
Who is Damascus negotiating with — and what exactly is Syria being asked to surrender in return?
🔴 The real story is not that Syria is talking to Israel.
The real story is what Syria may be prepared to accept from Israel after being bombed by it.

THE PAPER TIGER ON WALL STREET: WASHINGTON’S “ECONOMIC D-DAY” AGAINST IRAN
The Trump administration’s talk of an “economic D-Day” and the “largest financial attack in history” against Iran is being marketed as a display of overwhelming power.
But the strategic reality is less impressive:
Washington is shifting from military pressure to economic warfare because military coercion failed to force Tehran’s submission.
After direct threats and pressure in the Persian Gulf failed to deliver regime change without risking a potentially catastrophic regional war, Washington has returned to its most familiar weapon: financial strangulation.
Washington can threaten the entire world with secondary sanctions—but it cannot make the entire world politically obedient.
🇪🇺 The Western bloc:
The EU, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia and other U.S.-aligned economies are the most likely to comply.
🌏 The Global South & Eurasia:
China, Russia and numerous Asian, Eurasian and regional economies have increasingly built mechanisms designed to reduce their exposure to Washington’s financial system.
India, Türkiye, Iraq, the UAE and Central Asian states could face pressure if they maintain significant financial or commercial channels with Tehran.
Threatening foreign banks, shipping companies and sovereign trading partners with exclusion from the dollar system is not evidence of universal legitimacy.
It is evidence of financial coercion being used as a substitute for international consensus.
China’s continued economic relationship with Iran severely complicates any attempt to turn sanctions into an airtight blockade.
Beijing has developed alternative payment mechanisms, non-dollar trade channels and energy arrangements that reduce exposure to Western financial infrastructure.
For China, U.S. secondary sanctions are increasingly viewed not simply as Iran policy, but as part of a broader strategy of containing China itself.
Meanwhile, Russia and China’s engagement with Iran through BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Eurasian trade networks gives Tehran additional economic breathing space.
⚖️ SANCTIONS ≠ INTERNATIONAL LAW
Washington frequently presents unilateral sanctions as legitimate instruments of foreign policy.
But the legal picture is far more contested.
The United States can impose restrictions under its domestic law. The problem begins when Washington attempts to force sovereign third countries to obey those restrictions through secondary sanctions.
That raises fundamental questions of:
The UN Security Council can impose binding international sanctions. Washington’s unilateral measures do not automatically acquire the same international legal authority simply because the U.S. dollar remains dominant.
🇮🇷 HOW CAN IRAN NEUTRALIZE THE SIEGE?
Tehran’s answer should not be merely defensive.
It should be structural.
💠 Expand local-currency trade
Increase settlement with China, Russia, India and regional partners in yuan, rubles, dinars and other national currencies.
💠 Reduce dependence on Western financial infrastructure
Build alternative clearing, payment and financial channels that minimize exposure to U.S.-controlled systems.
💠 Accelerate the INSTC
The International North–South Transport Corridor can strengthen Iran’s role as a critical transit bridge connecting Russia, Central Asia and India.
💠 Move further downstream
Increase exports of refined petroleum products, petrochemicals and higher-value industrial goods rather than relying overwhelmingly on crude exports.
💠 Use international legal mechanisms
Challenge the extraterritorial application of U.S. sanctions where viable and pursue diplomatic and legal coalitions against unilateral coercive measures.

Washington calls it an “economic D-Day.”
But there is another way to read it.
When a superpower moves from military threats to financial warfare, it may not be demonstrating unlimited power.
It may be demonstrating the limits of its military options.
Iran has spent more than four decades adapting to sanctions.
The latest financial offensive may therefore produce an outcome Washington does not want:
accelerated de-dollarization, deeper Eurasian integration, alternative payment systems—and a world increasingly determined to escape U.S. financial jurisdiction.
It is whether Washington can still make the rest of the world obey.

🔴 Quick Settlement and Handover of Detainees.. Muhannad Al-Oqabi Announces Resolution of "Confusion" Surrounding Arrest of PMF Arms Director
📍 Iraq
The Director of the Media Directorate in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) 🇮🇶, Muhannad Al-Oqabi, announced in a tweet the resolution of the confusion regarding the detainees .
He noted that they have been handed over to PMF Security to follow up on their case with the Iraqi Judiciary
A joint force had previously arrested the Director of Arms (Branches) in the PMF, Commander Akram Al-Tamimi (Abu Jaafar) , along with three PMF members from his home in the Al-Baladiyat area in eastern Baghdad —a serious development targeting high-ranking leadership within the institution .
In contrast to the previous crisis surrounding the arrest of Baghdad Belt Intelligence Director Abbas Al-Yaqoobi and the accompanying tension , the situation this time was settled, and the detainees were handed over in a short timeframe and without fanfare .
Despite the rapid containment of the situation , urgent questions remain regarding the real reasons behind these repeated arrests , who stands behind issuing the orders ❓, and whether this represents the prelude to a series of targetings aimed at muddying the waters and keeping the security institution under constant pressure⁉️ .

THE IRANIAN AMBASSADOR AT THE CENTER OF THE CONFRONTATION: IS LEBANESE DIPLOMACY BECOMING AN ARENA FOR SECTARIAN WAR?
According to the headline of Yedioth Ahronoth, today appears set to mark the final chapter in the Lebanese-Iranian standoff over the legal status of Iran’s designated ambassador to Beirut, Mohammad Reza Sheibani, coinciding with the expiration of his visa.
The newspaper reports that the Lebanese authorities have designated Sheibani a “persona non grata”, while Iran has kept him at its embassy until the expiration date of his visa, in defiance of the Lebanese decision.
According to the newspaper, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji had declared his categorical rejection of any attempt to circumvent what Beirut considers a sovereign decision, arguing that designating Sheibani as persona non grata requires his expulsion after he has lost the legal basis for remaining in Lebanon.
But the most significant development is that, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, Tehran recently presented Beirut with a proposal to appoint a chargé d’affaires as part of a settlement concerning Sheibani’s status.
The Lebanese response, however, was negative, rejecting any settlement concerning Sheibani and linking the matter to the appointment of his replacement.
The Israeli newspaper itself links the case to the escalating tensions in Lebanese-Iranian relations, what it describes as continued Iranian officials’ support for Hezbollah, and the view of Lebanon as a key arena in the conflict between Tehran and Washington.
The newspaper also connects the issue to Iran’s responses to recent U.S. sanctions against Hezbollah and to Washington’s attempt to redefine the group as an organization linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps rather than as a Lebanese national movement.
Are we witnessing a limited diplomatic and legal dispute over the status of an ambassador?
Or is the Iranian ambassador’s case being used as a tool in a broader political and regional confrontation—one extending from U.S. sanctions against Hezbollah to Lebanese-Iranian relations and, ultimately, to the future of Lebanon’s internal balance?
He represents a state that maintains official diplomatic relations with Lebanon, and Iran has the right to defend the status of its diplomatic representative in accordance with international rules and diplomatic norms.
More importantly: A dispute with Iran must not be turned into a pretext for targeting Lebanon’s Shia community or politically punishing it because of its political choices or regional relationships.
But if the ambassador’s case becomes a tool to tighten the pressure on Hezbollah—and then on the Lebanese Shia community associated with it—we are facing something far more serious than a diplomatic crisis.
We are facing a sectarian war being waged through diplomatic instruments.
🇱🇧 Lebanese sovereignty must not become a selective slogan used to target one particular Lebanese community or political constituency.
Defending the Iranian ambassador’s right to fair diplomatic treatment does not mean abandoning Lebanese sovereignty. It means rejecting the transformation of diplomatic institutions into instruments of a sectarian and regional political conflict.
But if the Sheibani case is merely a façade for targeting Iran, Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Shia community, then the truth must be stated clearly:
This is not merely a diplomatic battle over an ambassador.
