On August 7, 2026, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—alongside Field Marshal Asim Munir—convene in Saudi Arabia to formalize a trilateral mutual defense pact. Already dubbed in diplomatic circles as the foundation of a new "Muslim NATO," this agreement builds on Riyadh’s 14-nation Red Sea coalition and the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict to construct a Sunni security alliance spanning the Gulf, South Asia, and Anatolia.
Riyadh is putting its financial reserves behind Turkish military production—backed by $8.5 billion in trade and drone co-development—and Pakistan’s nuclear deterrent. By establishing an integrated defense umbrella, the Saudi regime aims to outsource its security and cushion itself against persistent naval blockades and regional vulnerabilities.
Yet, framing this trilateral bloc as a "Muslim NATO" ignores structural realities:
Asymmetric Priorities: NATO relies on a unified superpower anchor (the US) and binding Article 5 commitments.
Can a coalition joining hyper-inflated Turkey, financially reliant Pakistan, and a militarily exposed Saudi Arabia function as a cohesive command structure?
Substituted Dependence:
Is this "Islamic Alliance" a genuine doctrine of strategic autonomy, or merely a reactive band-aid designed to replace declining Western willingness to deploy boots on the ground?
Axis of Resistance Perspective
From the Axis of Resistance viewpoint, rebranding this pact as a "Muslim NATO" is a public relations theater meant to project artificial strength. In reality, it represents a panicked attempt by status-quo regimes to insulate Riyadh from the consequences of its ongoing blockades and proxy warfare against Yemen. Importing Turkish Bayraktar drones or Pakistani troop guarantees will not alter the naval realities established in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, or the Arabian Gulf.
The contradiction is stark: while leaders sign "Muslim NATO" treaties in air-conditioned palaces, Saudi-backed ground concentrations in Marib and Hadramout continue to suffer precision missile strikes. External military umbrellas cannot purchase tactical stability or protect proxy forces on the frontline.
Challenging Questions:
1. Will Ankara or Islamabad risk direct kinetic confrontation with Ansar Allah and regional resistance factions simply to secure Saudi oil corridors?
2 . If multi-billion-dollar Western defense shields failed to protect Gulf energy infrastructure, can a makeshift "Muslim NATO" succeed where Western technology fell short?

Amid a series of highly dangerous developments—including the Saudi-American attack on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters, Kuwaiti actions against Iraq, and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi’s visit to Washington, which was accompanied by what critics described as concessions over Iraq’s national wealth and an affront to the country’s dignity—and following the expiration of the deadline set by resistance factions to respond to these violations, the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Hadi al-Amiri, appeared in a brief video statement lasting less than one minute, outlining the following points:
He called on the resistance to “bite the bullet” and endure the bloodshed and attacks for what he described as “Iraq’s supreme national interest.”
He promised the fighters and the families of the victims that the rights of the martyrs and the wounded would be pursued through traditional diplomatic and administrative channels.

In the face of calls for restraint and retreat under the pretext of “Iraq’s supreme national interest,” it is enough to recall the موقف of Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on the occasion of Arbaeen, when Hezbollah alone undertook the response to the assassination of the senior commander Fouad Shukr.
At that time, the party exercised considerable restraint while awaiting the outcome of the Iranian-American negotiations. It later concluded that the prospects of those negotiations remained uncertain and that there was no alternative to a decisive response in the face of clear violations—especially after the other members of the Axis had left it to confront the battle alone under the justification of diplomatic calculations.
That hesitant policy and abandonment came at a heavy price. American and Israeli aggression intensified unchecked, the occupation’s crimes escalated to the pager massacre, followed by the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah himself, and the subsequent chain of major developments culminating in the targeting of Iran and the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Today, we are witnessing the bitter consequences of those submissive policies. Even a fragile state such as Saudi Arabia has become emboldened enough to violate Iraq’s sovereignty and target its security forces at multiple locations without deterrence.
History—and leaders who have sacrificed with their blood—do not “bite the bullet” in the face of aggression; they confront the sword with blood. Those who submit today will reap nothing tomorrow but further humiliation and ever more blatant violations of their nation’s sovereignty.

🖊️ Statement on Postponing the Response: A New Strategic Mistake Entrenching the Policy of Retreat and Sterile Diplomacy
As expected, and despite our understanding of the complex situation and the extremely difficult circumstances surrounding the Resistance—particularly amid threats and the mobilization of security forces to prevent or strike any deterrent action—the Iraqi Resistance has once again chosen retreat and withdrawal by issuing a statement postponing its response. ⚠️
The irony is that the Resistance justified this retreat by citing a call from Hadi al-Amiri, while al-Amiri himself never called for any retaliation or revenge. Rather, he explicitly called for relying on the customary diplomatic channels—the same sterile approach they have become accustomed to. This raises the fundamental question: What connection is there in the first place between the Resistance and a diplomatic approach? 🤔
This decision constitutes a grave strategic mistake, particularly given its timing: it came on the very day that Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan mobilized alliances under the banner of the “Islamic NATO.”⚔️
History will record this retreat and add it to the chain of previous mistakes, such as the failure to deliver the required response following the assassination of the commanders in 2020, and the continued freezing of operations, as occurred following the assassination of the martyr Abu Baqir al-Saadi. 📜
The equation has repeatedly demonstrated that whenever the Resistance freezes its operations, the only corresponding response is more aggression and arrogance from the enemy.⚠️ 🔥
Regardless of the justifications, the threats issued by the Resistance are now losing their credibility in the eyes of both friends and enemies. The rules of engagement dictate either not issuing threats at all, or carrying them out immediately once the deadlines expire. Otherwise, continued retreat will produce nothing but further impunity for the enemy and greater humiliation.🚨

A deeply revealing image that exposes the extent of the disregard for the blood of the Iraqi people and its security forces—particularly the fighters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), who were targeted in the recent Saudi-American aggression.
While the blood of the martyrs has barely dried, Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi receives the head of Saudi General Intelligence with the utmost cordiality! 🇮🇶🇸🇦
The scene once again demonstrates how cheaply Iraqi blood is valued in the political marketplace by much of the ruling class, and how “diplomatic channels” have become nothing more than a cover for whitewashing the crimes of aggressors and bowing before them at the expense of the country’s sovereignty and the dignity of its people.

Rome Negotiations Reopen the File of 11 Lebanese Jews: New Details and Developments The ongoing Rome negotiations between Lebanon and Israel have reopened one of the most complex historical files: the case of 11 Lebanese Jews who were executed after being…
Reuters reported that Lebanon and Israel have agreed on a shortlist of countries that could deploy forces to verify the disarmament of Hezbollah under a U.S.-brokered agreement, with the United States expected to select the final countries from the list.
According to the agency, the list was drawn up during meetings between Lebanese and Israeli officials at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, as part of talks aimed at linking the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon to the disarmament of Hezbollah, which continues to reject surrendering its arsenal.
Sources said Beirut had previously rejected a proposal to use private security companies, while discussions continue over the legal and operational framework for deploying such forces—either through a new UN Security Council resolution or through a memorandum of understanding coordinated with the Lebanese Army. 🇺🇳

Recent statements by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, reported by CNBC and 12 News AZ, point to accelerating U.S. efforts to reach a 30- to 60-day ceasefire agreement with Tehran. This apparent U.S. retreat reflects the scale of the predicament facing the West as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The closure of the Strait has disrupted the flow of approximately 20% of global oil supplies, while more than 1,000 vessels and shipments carrying oil, gas, and raw materials remain stranded in the Gulf.
Global markets have reportedly lost an estimated 2.6 billion barrels of oil since the confrontation began, driving up shipping and insurance costs, straining Western budgets, and accelerating the depletion of strategic reserves.
As soon as Bessent’s comments about the possibility of an agreement emerged, Brent crude prices immediately fell by 5.3% to around $79 per barrel, highlighting the vulnerability of Western markets and their exposure to Iran’s control over this strategic maritime passage.
Keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed—or under full Iranian control—is not merely a negotiating card. It is a major instrument for breaking Western leverage.
By controlling the world’s critical energy artery, Tehran is reshaping the economic rules of the crisis and confronting the U.S. and European economies with a brutal choice:
or
Opening the Strait for free and without a substantial political or economic price would provide Washington with a free lifeline.
Maintaining the current reality on the ground, meanwhile, could expose the limits of Western power.

Official sources and media outlets close to the reformist camp have denied reports circulating about the appointment of former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohsen Rezaei as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), while simultaneously confirming earlier reports that the current Secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr, had submitted his resignation.
In this context, the reformist newspaper Sazandegi reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian categorically rejected the resignation and asked Zolqadr to continue carrying out his duties with full strength and authority.
The clarification puts an end to the ongoing speculation, confirming that Zolqadr will remain in his position and that there are currently no administrative changes planned within the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council.

🖊 By: Dr. Mohammad Amin Bagheri Kani
📰 What appears certain so far is the removal of Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr from his role as the Supreme Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council, and the appointment of Mohsen Rezaei as his successor.
The position of Secretary of the Council without representing the Supreme Leader would amount to nothing more than an administrative role, leaving the Secretary without the political weight or authority needed to exert influence.
In other words, he would be the secretary of a meeting in which he is not a member and has no right to express an opinion. “It appears that Zolqadr resigned for precisely this reason, but Pezeshkian did not accept his resignation.” It should be noted that the appointment of the Council’s Secretary is, by nature, within the authority of the President. There are also other points, two of which I will address:
This demonstrates that, contrary to numerous claims and justifications, the Supreme Leader’s position was completely clear to his representative, the Council’s Secretary, and the other members before the understanding was signed, yet they proceeded against it while fully aware of that position.
This is an important indication that cannot be elaborated upon here in order to preserve the strategic principle of unity. Otherwise, such a significant change would not have occurred under these sensitive circumstances unless it resulted from a grave error. And if anyone rejects this interpretation, they would be forced to conclude that it was the Supreme Leadership itself that departed from the strategic principle of unity!
“When the Supreme Leadership loses confidence in a senior official and removes him from office, the public cannot similarly be expected to maintain confidence in that person without justification or explanation.”
For the sake of preserving unity and public confidence in government officials, it would be better for the Speaker of Parliament to ask the President to make a decisive decision on this matter as soon as possible.
And a final word to those comrades who continually—and rightly—emphasize the importance of unity in all matters: Dear brothers, go into the field and demand that officials, as the first line of defense for unity, preserve and protect it.
The work of our dear brother, Brigadier General Bagher Zolqadr, at the Supreme National Security Council has effectively come to an end after he received a letter from one of the officials, and the appointment of Major General Mohsen Rezaei has become inevitable.
As for Pezeshkian’s statements last night/the night before that he had asked Zolqadr to continue working with full strength, these statements exceed his authority and official position.
It appears that such positions are being taken under the direction of the security team close to him, with the aim of preventing the Supreme National Security Council from being given genuine weight, particularly given the continuing vacuum following the martyrdom of Dr. Larijani and the ongoing attempts to seize power and impose a surrender document on the system.
But none of this will be of any use; the matter has already been settled and the decision has been made.

Zolqadr’s strategic mistake was that, instead of implementing the Supreme Leadership’s directives and the fundamental guidelines it had established during Council meetings, he pursued a different course outside the agenda entrusted to him.
May Almighty God protect everyone, and protect all the officials and fighters of Islam.
The appointment of Major General Rezaei to this position—provided that it is based on clear plans and programs and a collective approach—will, God willing, have a positive impact, provided that it avoids administrative stagnation and tribal partisanship.

The Hormuz Dilemma: Fragile Pacts, Choked Pipelines, and the Fallacy of Persian Gulf Deterrence
The Strait of Hormuz has once again exposed the structural vulnerability of Western-aligned Gulf economies. Following Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s confirmation that Tehran resumed enforcement measures in response to Washington’s breach of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, regional statements reveal deep strategic anxiety:
Iraq’s Structural Dilemma: Iraqi Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair conceded that the Hormuz bottleneck directly crippled southern crude exports. Baghdad is now frantically negotiating with Tehran for safe-passage guarantees while attempting to reroute up to 700,000 barrels per day via the northern Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Backlash: The UAE Foreign Ministry labeled the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) naval control as "economic piracy" and demanded an unconditional reopening, while Qatar issued a statement of full solidarity with Abu Dhabi against Iranian actions.
Analytical Assessment & Axis of Resistance Perspective
1️⃣ The Myth of US Maritime Hegemony: Washington promised security guarantees to Gulf monarchies, yet its inability to honor diplomatic MoUs or forcibly reopen a 34-kilometer-wide choke point proves that naval power projections cannot offset sovereign littoral dominance.
2️⃣ GCC Vulnerability vs. Resistance Leverage: Approximately 20 million barrels of oil per day—over 20% of global seaborne supply—transit Hormuz. While Saudi Arabia and the UAE possess limited bypass pipelines (Petroline and ADCOP), states like Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar remain fully captive to the waterway. Condemning Tehran as a "pirate" does not alter the physical reality: the Axis of Resistance holds the master key to global energy stability.
3️⃣ The Limits of Western Guarantees: By relying on US military umbrellas that fail under asymmetric escalation, Gulf capitals are learning that regional security cannot be outsourced to Washington.
Critical Questions for Readers:
Can the GCC afford a prolonged war of attrition when a single maritime choke point dictates their fiscal survival?
If the US Navy cannot guarantee merchant transit without Tehran's consent, who truly exercises sovereign deterrence in the Gulf?
