A Puerto Rican victim of a $55M DAI phishing hack is suing Coinbase for refusing to return frozen funds despite sworn proof of ownership. The victim clicked a fake DefiSaver link in August 2024, unknowingly granting attackers wallet control. Investigators traced the funds to a Coinbase retail account, Coinbase froze them, but then demanded a court order before returning anything.

DENIC, the registry managing all .de domains, broke a critical security signature on the entire .de zone tonight. Amazon.de Google.de, Telekom.de and thousands of sites are unreachable globally.

DENIC confirmed the disruption on their status page. Started around 9:40 PM Berlin time.

EXPLANATION:
Every .de domain has a digital signature that proves it's legitimate. DENIC accidentally invalidated that signature for the entire .de zone, so most DNS servers worldwide are refusing to load any .de site as a security precaution. It's not a hack, someone just pushed a broken update.

NSW Police raided a suburban home in Ingleburn on May 4, seizing 52.3 BTC (~$5.7M) linked to darknet activity. Two men, aged 39 and 41, were identified as wallet holders. A previous raid in May 2025 had already netted $47K in crypto and cocaine. One of the biggest cryptocurrency seizures in Australian history.

The Paris prosecutor's office opened a formal criminal investigation on May 6 against X Corp, X.AI and Elon Musk, alongside CEO Linda Yaccarino. Charges include illegal data collection, CSAM distribution, violation of electronic communications secrecy and facilitating illegal transactions via organized crime.

@durov responded by accusing France of doing exactly what it charges X with, pointing to the France Titres data breach exposing 19M citizens and calling the investigation a political attack ahead of France's 2027 elections.

Authorities raided a commercial building in Lampang, northern Thailand, after neighboring properties reported overheating and melting electrical cables. Inside they found mining rigs illegally tapped into the main power supply.

The building's official electricity bill was $11/month. Actual consumption was $81,000 worth of stolen power. Part of a wider Thai crackdown that has already netted thousands of rigs across multiple provinces.

⚠️ JUST IN: Under 100,000 blocks left until the next Bitcoin halving

The next halving is expected between April 12-17, 2028. Every halving has historically preceded a major bull run.

EXPLANATION OF HALVING:
Every 210,000 blocks, the reward miners receive for validating transactions gets cut in half. When Bitcoin launched in 2009, miners earned 50 BTC per block. Today it's 3.125 BTC. After the next halving it drops to 1.5625 BTC. Less new Bitcoin entering circulation means less selling pressure from miners, historically pushing the price up. The last three halvings in 2012, 2016 and 2020 all preceded all-time highs within 12-18 months.
