Grinex, a sanctioned Russia-linked exchange widely seen as a rebranding of the shuttered Garantex, got drained for $13.7M. Attackers converted everything to $TRX and moved it to a single wallet. The exchange is blaming foreign intelligence services and has suspended all operations.
Do you believe it was a state-sponsored hack or just a convenient excuse?

Buyers sued Caitlyn Jenner in 2024 after losing thousands on her $JENNER token, claiming it was an unregistered security. A federal judge disagreed, ruling that hyping a token with your fame doesn't make it a security if no investor funds were pooled. Case dismissed.
Legally, you could launch a memecoin, pump it and dump it, as long as you call it "entertainment."

An attacker flash-loaned 10 WBTC from Morpho and abused a share rounding vulnerability in ThetanutsFi's BTC/USD covered call vault. By depositing 2 satoshis first, then a large amount, they gamed the share-to-asset conversion math and drained the entire vault, netting ~0.15 WBTC profit after repaying the loan.
Victim: 0x80b8…a6f5
EXPLANATION:
The vault had no rounding protection on its share math. The attacker deposited 2 satoshis, receiving 1 share due to rounding down. Then deposited 4.68 WBTC, accumulating shares at a slightly better rate than they should have. Calling initWithdraw() burned all shares and returned the vault's full balance including pre-existing depositor funds. Classic inflation attack, tiny deposit first to skew the ratio, then drain everything.
Is $46K enough to get auditors to take rounding bugs seriously?

An attacker exploited a critical signature flaw in GiddyDefi's GiddyVaultV3, replaying a valid signature with swapped parameters to drain $1.3M in staked LP tokens.
TX: 0x5edb…82e5
EXPLANATION:
The vault's signature verification only checked the data bytes inside each SwapInfo struct, ignoring critical fields like the aggregator address, token addresses and amount. The attacker took a legitimate signed transaction, replaced the aggregator with their own malicious contract, swapped the tokens for the vault's staked LP tokens, and set the amount to MAX_UINT256 to drain everything. The signature was valid, the vault approved it, funds gone.
Another audit that missed the obvious.

Italian researcher Giancarlo Lelli won Project Eleven's Q-Day Prize by breaking a 15-bit elliptic curve key on publicly accessible quantum hardware, a 512x jump from the previous record set in September 2025. Not an immediate threat to Bitcoin's 256-bit security, but estimates for the qubits needed to crack it have dropped to under 500,000. Around 6.9M BTC sits in wallets with exposed public keys.
EXPLANATION:
Bitcoin uses 256-bit elliptic curve cryptography to secure wallets. A quantum computer running Shor's algorithm could theoretically derive a private key from a public key, stealing funds. Until now, quantum attacks on ECC were purely theoretical or limited to trivial 6-bit demos. Lelli's 15-bit result, done on cloud quantum hardware with no private chips or national lab, proves the attack class works in practice. The gap from 15-bit to 256-bit is still enormous, but the required resources keep shrinking fast.
Is Bitcoin moving fast enough on post-quantum upgrades?

Litecoin suffered a 51% attack allowing attackers to double-spend the same coins. They swapped LTC for other assets, then rewrote blockchain history to reclaim the original LTC, keeping both. Total losses have reached 8 figures. Litecoin Cash, a fork of Litecoin, suffered a similar attack in the past, but this marks the first time it has hit Litecoin's mainnet directly.
EXPLANATION:
A 51% attack happens when a single entity controls more than half of a blockchain's mining power. With majority control, they can secretly mine an alternate version of the blockchain and replace the legitimate chain, effectively erasing transactions that already happened. In this case, attackers made swaps to receive assets, then used their hashrate dominance to reorg the chain and erase the outgoing LTC transactions, ending up with both the LTC and whatever they received in the swap.
Is Litecoin's proof-of-work security still worth trusting?

Litecoin has confirmed the incident was caused by a zero-day bug in MWEB, not a coordinated 51% attack. Non-updated nodes accepted an invalid transaction, triggering a DoS on major mining pools and a 13-block reorg. The invalid transactions were reversed and will not be included in the main chain. All valid transactions remain unaffected. Bug is fully patched, network back to normal.
