⚠️ JUST IN: Bitcoin Dev Proposes Quantum-Safe Transactions

Bitcoin developer Avihu Levy has introduced a method to make BTC transactions quantum-resistant without requiring any changes to Bitcoin's protocol. Most quantum-safety proposals need a softfork, meaning the whole network has to agree and upgrade. This one doesn't.

EXPLANATION:
Right now, Bitcoin's security relies on elliptic curve cryptography (ECDSA), which quantum computers could eventually break, allowing attackers to derive private keys from public keys and drain wallets. The standard fix would require a softfork, meaning thousands of miners and nodes worldwide would need to agree and upgrade simultaneously, a slow and politically messy process. Levy's method, built on prior research including ColliderScript, uses Lamport signatures layered on top of Bitcoin's existing script system. Lamport signatures are quantum-resistant by design, based on hash functions rather than elliptic curves. The trick is adding this quantum-safe signing method alongside your normal wallet setup, so if quantum computers ever become a real threat, your coins are already protected without waiting for the network to upgrade. No consensus needed, no protocol changes, just an extra layer you can opt into today.
