TIPS FOR CORPS MEMBERS ON ELECTION DUTIES

The National Youth Service Corps has been in the forefront of entrenching good democratic governance in the country.
Its involvement in previous elections has brought credibility to the country's electoral process at different times.
Meanwhile, as 2019 General Elections draw near, Corps Members on election duties must take note of the following as unbiased umpires:

* Abide by the Electoral Laws bearing in mind that violators would be prosecuted.

* Be polite while addressing voters, security agents and others in the course of the elections.

* Go to your duty posts with fully charged phones, power bank and enough call cards in order to make calls when necessary.

* Report to your Registration Area Centres (RAC) and Polling Units in NYSC uniforms for proper identification.

* Ensure you are with valid NYSC Identity Cards throughout the election periods.

* Avoid free ride but use only INEC accredited vehicles for election duties.

* Do not collect money, food or drinks from any politician/party agent before, during and after the elections to avoid being induced.

* If there is security threat, run to a safe location, preferably a military or police post/checkpoint.

* While on election duty, do not struggle with any armed person that may want to hijack electoral materials from you. Hand over all materials in order to save yourself from avoidable attack.

Management places priority on the security and welfare of all Corps Members on National Service.

Wishing you all a hitch free, rewarding and memorable election outing as you make the Scheme proud again.

Thank you.
Signed
Management

NYSC ZONINGS
It's no longer news that the new policy of the NYSC which started from 2016 Batch A orientation course now allows every corps member to choose 4 States of their choices to serve their father land of which 1 of the chosen 4 states would be selected at random by the NYSC management.
You will be asked to choose the state of your choice, but it must be a state outside your geopolitical zone.

So you can check out this for you to know where you can serve and where you are free to choose. If your own state falls under southeast, it simply means that you can’t serve in southeast.

This will guide you on what to do.

South East: 5 States

(Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo).

South South: 6 States

(Akwa-ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Rivers).

South West: 6 States

(Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo).

North East: 6 States

(Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe).

North West: 7 States

(Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara).

North Central: 6 States

(Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, Plateau).

NOTE: feasibility study shows that there shall be 7 geopolitical zones, which Lagos shall be referred as one, but Abuja shall be North Central Zone.
