I stay close to him, too afraid to let go as I caress his cheek.
"I'm so sorry sweetheart. I will come back, as I've always had. You know it, don't you?"
His deep, calm voice alone reassures me that he would come back, safe and healthy.
"I know you would. I just. You know, it's hard for me to stay here while you are out there, doing dangerous things."
He bends down as his hands move my face upward, planting a gentle kiss on my lips.
"I promise to come back, my savior angel. You know how my job works. Unfortunately, it contains me being away from you." I feel as his hand slightly tightens around my waist whule he says the last few words.
This time, I go on my toes and grab his face as I kiss his forehead. I smile my warmest, because I know he means everything he says. One of my hands goes to his gun, by his waist. A copy of his own hand on my waist.
"Be careful on using that, my favorite hero."
He smiles. Gosh, he is so fucking charming. "I've mentioned many times that I can't be a hero. I murder people. That's usually considered a villain, darling."
I frown -not actually meaning it- as i pull his cravat down a bit.
"You murder bad people. People who deserve it. And even if you were a villain, you would've been my one and only villain."
