On 26th September 2021, our NUS IT Management Team embarked on a gruelling and tiring 3km run, under the RunNUS 2021 event hosted by our NUS Students' Sports Club (NUSSSC), to raise funds for the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) and Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).
The event was logistically supported by our very own Fun Club (NUS IT’s Staff Welfare Committee) to aid the management team on their journey. 🏃🏻♂🏃🏻♀
Equipped with their running gear, sunblock, sunglasses and lots of love and support from the entire department, our Management Team led the way to raise $5,678 for charity - way past our original target! 👏
A huge thanks to everybody in NUS IT and kudos to our Management Team! We are so thrilled to have been able to contribute to this meaningful cause. 🎉

On the 6th of October, NUS IT was invited to participate in Jicara Media's IT Infrastructure Frontiers 2021 Panel “IT Infrastructure for the New Era of Work”. 🚀
Our Director for Infrastructure, Mr Ng Tiong Beng, shared about the University’s strategy to meet the changing needs of the COVID-19 pandemic and the reliable and secure connectivity infrastructure such as VPN, authentication services and border network infrastructure critical in enabling NUS staff and students to teach and learn remotely.

We are proud to announce that our NUS EMART team (formed by NUS Department of Psychological Medicine, Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies and NUS IT) has won the Grand Prize in the Medical Education Grand Innovation Challenge (MEGIC)!
MEGIC is an NUS Medicine initiative to drive innovation in medical education and to create a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. It aims to encourage educators, students and admin staff to identify gaps and opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness, and to subsequently develop creative solutions.
This innovation challenge was issued at the beginning of 2021 and the participants spent months working. Despite the restriction arising from WFH, our EMART team persevere and managed to create their MAGIC (Managing Aggression using Immersive Content) which managed to capture the attention of the MEGIC judges

We are proud to announce that our in-house developed (with Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies) “Nursing studies with VR” has been selected as the winner for the ‘Best Use of Emerging Technologies’ award category in the CIO Academy Asia’s inaugural 2021 INSPIRE Tech Awards!
Our project was handpicked by judges amongst 83 other nominations from 5 countries in South East Asia who participated in this year’s INSPIRE Awards.
Nursing studies with VR is a project that brings about the digitalisation and automation of nursing clinical practice it has dramatically evolved the paradigm of traditional learning.

In a recent post by National University of Singapore that highlighted 5G-enabled #initiatives, we learn of drones flown for #autonomous delivery and inspection of building facades and the establishment of integrated operation centres (IOC), with live video analytics for campus security.
#NUS_IT is really excited to be at the forefront of this partnership between NUS and Starhub that focuses and leverages the use of 5G #technology and #IoT!
