Did you know that NUS IT was the leader in rolling out Wi-Fi roaming among Singaporeโs Institutes of Higher Learning all the way back in 2004? ๐คฏ๐ฏ
NUS IT established the first Wi-Fi roaming zone among several IHL-CIO forum members, enabling seamless wireless access to the IT resources offered by home institutes when students move from one campus to another. ๐ถ๐
2004 was also the year NUS IT implemented full wireless coverage for the entire NUS campus. It offered the highest performance at 54 Mbps with 1,000 wireless base stations, deployed in over 100 buildings for a strong user population of 32,000. This was one of the first large-scale deployments of 802.11g-enabled wireless networks in Asia Pacific.
