We are proud to celebrate that NUS IT has achieved second place in Microsoft Singapore’s Power Apps Hackathon Competition! 🥳🎉

Our winning NUS IT team, aptly named “Team Enabler”, consisted of Tan Keok Tay (Associate Director), Li Zhi Xian (Senior Manager), Peng Wei (Senior Systems Analyst) and Shyamkumar Sukumaran (Lead Systems Analyst).

NUS IT’s solution to Microsoft’s challenge to improve the student experience was the Student Project Management System, an innovative solution using Power apps brainstormed by the team to solve problems faced by both students and academic advisors in submitting project reports.

Once again, our heartiest congratulations to our NUS IT team members and a big thank you to Microsoft and TinkerTanker for this meaningful opportunity and invaluable experience. 👏👏

We are extremely glad to have been mentioned in Nikkei Asia’s recent interview with NUS President Tan Eng Chye regarding NUS’ initiatives to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

uNivUS, the application developed by NUS IT which allows for a host of features such as temperature and travel declaration and NUSafe, was commended by Nikkei Asia as one of the innovative tech measures used by NUS in the fight against the pandemic.

Our very own Chief IT Officer, Tan Shui-Min, drove the NUS-SMU collaborative effort with the industry to spearhead the use of Wi-Fi information for Contact Tracing on campus as underscored in the article.

Thank you to Nikkei Asia and our teams who worked expediently to develop these solutions!

NUS IT wishes all our Muslim friends a blessed Eid al-Adha! May you and your family be blessed with peace and harmony. Wishing all a joyous holiday!
On the 22nd of July, Mr Rikky Purbojati, who heads Research Computing at NUS IT, was invited to participate in GovInsider’s webinar titled “Supercharging e-government with the cloud” (held in partnership with SailPoint and Accenture). ☁️💻💡

Alongside other panellists and speakers, Rikky shared insights on data management by governments and public institutions using the cloud. He highlighted how a holistic data framework is required as a tool in the optimisation of digital government services. Also, he raised a valuable point about the many applications that are often used in silo, which may complicate the end user experience – particularly for those who are not as data-literate.

Congratulations to Rikky and the other amazing panellists for their enriching sharing! Thank you Govinsider! 👏

Did you know that NUS IT (previously known as NUS Computer Centre) was the birthplace of the Internet in Singapore all the way back in 1990? 🤯

While the Internet in Singapore was largely and publicly made available through the telco SingTel back in 1994, the technology behind it was in fact, implemented and made possible through the effort of many in NUS. 👏🤩
