3. Journeying Through Maritime Southeast Asia

5. FASS Appoints First Visiting Professor in Sikh Studies
As part of his appointment to the Visiting Professorship established in collaboration with the Central Sikh Gurdwara Board (CSGB), Associate Professor Jasjit Singh will be leading research and teaching courses in Sikhism and the Sikh way of life at NUS South Asian Studies, as well as presenting a workshop to the Singapore Sikh community, and a public lecture. https://bit.ly/3P9QZEm

6. RESEARCH | ‘Rights Refused: Grassroots Activism and State Violence in Myanmar’
Dr Elliott Prasse-Freeman (NUS Sociology and Anthropology) documents grassroots political activists who advocate for workers and peasants across Burma through the 2011-2021 “democratic transition”, the February 2021 military coup and the ongoing mass uprising against it. https://bit.ly/44pUQ4B

7. SEMINAR | ‘More Trade, Less Commitment: a New Turn in Russia-China Economic Relations (28 August 2023)

FASS has appointed the first CSGB Visiting Professor in Sikh Studies, Associate Professor Jasjit Singh, who will be leading research and teaching courses in Sikhism and the Sikh way of life at NUS South Asian Studies, as well as presenting a workshop to the Singapore Sikh community, and a public lecture scheduled for November 2023.

The Visiting Professorship was established in collaboration with the Central Sikh Gurdwara Board (CGSB) (CSGB), and is the first of its kind in Asia, outside of the Indian subcontinent.

2. Uncovering the Ways Social Media Users Evade Policing of Harmful Online Content
