Title: Binary Search Trees
Abstract:
In this presentation, I will talk about Binary Search Trees, an object commonly studied in Computer Science and with a lot of interesting mathematical properties. I will start by defining them and explaining their link with concrete problems, such as data extraction and data sorting. After that, I will study a random model obtained by uniformly shuffling the entries of the tree. This model gained interest in the 80's, with its staple result from Luc Devroye in 1986. Finally, I will conclude this presentation by showing how my current line of research is raising a simple related question with no clear solution.
