Calling all aspiring entrepreneurs! Forge your ideas 🌟 as an entrepreneurial maverick with the Venture Initiation Programme (VIP@SoC) grant. The grant spans for one year and awards up to $10,000.

BetterEarth, one of the AY22/23 Sem 2 winners spoke to us. Armed with a passion to make eco-living more accessible, the team developed an app, EcoQuest 🌱 which they cheekily quipped as “your ticket to a sustainable lifestyle gaming adventure.”

GOOD NEWS: NUS Presidential Young Professor Kuldeep Meel and PhD student Jiong Yang has clinched the Distinguished Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer-Aided Verification (CAV 2023)! 🎉📝

The pair proposed a novel technique known as "rounding" to address Model Counting, a fundamental computational problem in their winning paper.

Exactly a month ago, NUS Greyhats and National Cybersecurity Lab (NCL) concluded another highly successful Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competition. ⛳️

A total of 90 international and local active members of the CTF community were invited to compete in the challenge which was held at SoC Multipurpose Hall on 15-16 July.

A big round of applause to our #NUSComputing students for clinching Gold 🥇 for Flag Day once again this year! Many of them took to the streets on 29 July and raised an approximate sum of $11,700. No easy feat! Proceeds will be channelled through Community Chest to 20 Social Service Agencies.

More Good News: Decked in rainbow 🌈 makeup and colourful costumes, our students took over UTown Green last Saturday with an electrifying performance and earned a Shining Silver 🥈 for RAG!

ℹ️ NUS Orbital is a self-directed programming course for our SoC Year 1 students. They'll embark on their own projects & pick up software development skills during the summer. Final projects are presented at the closing event, Orbital Splashdown.
We're thrilled to share that the 61st Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2023) was a success for two of our research papers!

1️⃣ NUS Young Presidential Professor Yang You and team's paper, "CAME: Confidence-guided Adaptive Memory Efficient Optimisation," was selected by the Best Paper Committee for the Outstanding Paper Award.

2️⃣ Professor Lee Wee Sun and his team's paper, "Tell2Design: A Dataset for Language-Guided Floor Plan Generation," was selected for the Area Chair Award under Resources and Evaluation track.
