Our heartiest congrats to KITHCT Professor Chua Tat Seng (left) & Associate Professor Heng Cheng Suang (right)! Prof Chua was recognised for his research achievements with the University Research Recognition Award, while Assoc Prof Heng was honoured for being an exemplary educator with the Outstanding Educator Award.

They were recognised at the NUS University Awards 2022 ceremony last Friday, which represents the University’s highest tribute to those who are trailblazers in their fields and have made sterling contributions to NUS, Singapore, and the global community.

We're proud to announce that at this year's Rag & Flag 2022, our NUS Computing students clinched the gold award for their fundraising efforts during Flag Day! 🙌 They raised some S$20,000, with the proceeds going towards charity programmes supported by Community Chest through 21 Social Service Agencies (SSAs).

Our students also put up a spirited dance performance at University Town Green last weekend, and clinched the bronze award at Rag (Receiving and Giving) Day. Well done, folks! 💃🏻🕺🏾🪩

Professor Mohan Kankanhalli, Dean of NUS Computing, was conferred the prestigious Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS) Fellowship this month. Fellowships are conferred on outstanding researchers in Singapore to recognise those who have distinguished themselves in the field of science.

For his outstanding contributions to multimedia content processing and security, and impactful contributions to computing education and research in Singapore, Prof Mohan has been elected as Fellow of the Academy. Congrats, prof!

We're proud to announce that we will co-host and operate a blockchain research centre alongside the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The Blockchain Research Center (BRC) will be backed by a US$20 million funding commitment from blockchain platform Klaytn Foundation over the next four years, turning it into one of the largest blockchain research centres by known funding size.

Professor Tan Kian Lee, who is Tan Sri Runme Shaw Senior Professor of Computer Science and Executive Director of the Singapore Data Science Consortium, will be Dean of NUS Computing in January next year. He succeeds Professor Mohan Kankanhalli, who has been Dean since July 2016. Congrats, Prof Tan!

The School would also like to thank Prof Mohan for his contributions to NUS Computing. Prof Mohan will continue to serve as Director of NUS Centre for Research in Privacy Technologies (N-CRiPT), and Deputy Executive Chairman of AI Singapore.
