Congrats to third-year Computer Science student Rishabh Anand for winning the Honourable Mention award at a writing competition hosted by The Gradient, an online publication by the Stanford AI Lab! 🎉 His research essay documents self-driving car policies from around the world, as well as guidelines for governments to consider when building city-wide infrastructure to better accommodate autonomous vehicles. 🚘

Together with the City University of Hong Kong, NUS Computing organised its first ever six-day summer bootcamp on smart glasses! 😎 Called the Future Interaction for Smart Glasses, university students from countries such as Hong Kong, Europe, Singapore, and the US participated in foundational seminars, and got busy with a three-day hackathon at the bootcamp. 💻 💪

Can wearable tech such as earbuds, help people to better manage their health? NUS Computing Assoc Prof Terence Sim and his Masters student, Jiang Nan, certainly think so. They recently developed the EarWalk, a device that makes use of accelerators present in earbuds to monitor how people move. 🎧🚶‍♀️

Our heartiest congrats to KITHCT Professor Chua Tat Seng (left) & Associate Professor Heng Cheng Suang (right)! Prof Chua was recognised for his research achievements with the University Research Recognition Award, while Assoc Prof Heng was honoured for being an exemplary educator with the Outstanding Educator Award.

They were recognised at the NUS University Awards 2022 ceremony last Friday, which represents the University’s highest tribute to those who are trailblazers in their fields and have made sterling contributions to NUS, Singapore, and the global community.

A whopping 21 students and alumni were awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize & Outstanding Computing Prize for their research projects, which involved topics such as artificial intelligence, algorithms, cryptography, computer programming, and healthcare informatics.
