In 2011, A/P Damith Rajapakse discovered a problem when teaching: the lack of a user-friendly, student feedback and evaluation tool. So, he and his students built an effective solution and also created an opportunity for students to practice their software engineering skills in real life.
The tool, TEAMMATES, is now used by over 600,000 students and instructors from more than 1,000 universities worldwide.
Find out more about the TEAMMATES story and how Damith went on to establish the NUS-Open Source Software (OSS), an initiative which provides free tech solutions, while simultaneously helping students become better software developers.

When A/P Soo Yuen Jien realised it was difficult to get student feedback and responses from large lecture groups, he decided to build his own online response platform, Archipelago. Launched in 2016, it has been used by lecturers from up to 17 NUS schools and facilities.
In fact, Archipelago proved to be useful when COVID-19 hit and students complained that online lectures weren’t engaging enough, or didn’t feel like a regular classroom.
Find out more about how Archipelago helps connect students and instructors better, especially in these challenging times.

👨🏾🏫 For NUS Computing lecturer Ravi Suppiah, teaching is something that comes naturally for him. In secondary school, he would help some of his classmates with their work, who would say to him: “Woah when you teach, I understand. But when the teacher teaches, I don’t understand.”
Today, Ravi combines his passion for computer engineering with teaching, and always strives to make his classes more hands-on for students. 💻 🤖 🛠️ Find out how Ravi is changing the way he teaches computer engineering!
