The Master of Cities prepares you to be at the forefront of shaping and transforming cities.

As a Master of Cities student, you will travel and immerse yourself in Global Classrooms in Singapore and other cities. You will gain first-hand perspectives of urban projects and policies and delve into cross-cultural dialogues with other urban professionals.

You will be equipped to apply interdisciplinary practical and theoretical concepts in analysing, designing, and delivering impactful changes in cities.

Professor Yeo Siew Haip is the Director of NUS Cities and a distinguished architect, urban strategist, and design leader. Prof Yeo brings with him over 35 years of experience spanning architectural design, urban planning, and senior executive leadership in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Students joining the Master of Cities will get the chance to tap on his wealth of insight and expertise – Prof Yeo is the course leader for CIT5010 Integrated Capstone Project, an immersive and project-based course that challenges students to draw upon their well-round Cities scholarly education to produce original academic research and practice projects.

Prof Fong Chun Wah is the Deputy Director of NUS Cities, overseeing the work that NUS Cities does in the each of its three pillars of Education, Research and Advisory Services.

Students of the Master of Cities will get the opportunity to learn from Prof Fong and from his years of experience as he leads the CIT5002 Inclusive Cities course. The course will explore how cities can create a sense of social and spatial equity for its communities, and provide fair opportunities to access and representation within the city.

Cities are complex and dynamic environments where urban planning, public health, and social wellbeing intersect to shape the lives of residents. This interdisciplinary course examines how urban environments influence human health outcomes and explores strategies for planning and governing more equitable and healthier cities.

CDE3507 Regenerative Cities 🌎

This course introduces the concept of regenerative cities as an advanced paradigm beyond sustainability. Students will explore how cities can move from extractive to regenerative systems, enhancing resilience, biodiversity, circularity, and social inclusivity. Through lectures, field visits, design studios, and case studies, students will gain practical and theoretical skills to conceptualise and plan regenerative urban environments.
