⚠️🛢️🇷🇺 Russia's Baltic port Ust-Luga, one of the largest oil export hubs, was struck again by Ukrainian drones on Sunday. Oil loading at Ust-Luga has been suspended since Wednesday following significant damage. The port of Primorsk was also hit. Primorsk and Ust-Luga together accounted for around 45%, or 1.72 million barrels per day, of Russia's seaborne oil exports. Damage to both ports threatens to offset potential growth in Russia's oil export revenues at elevated prices. — BBG

🚫🛢️ The energy crisis caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is approaching the one-month mark. The US is beginning to seriously consider scenarios where oil prices rise to $200 — BBG

The strait's closure has cut global oil supplies by approximately 11 million barrels per day. Given current demand levels, the deficit reaches 9 million barrels — more than the combined oil consumption of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. The situation has been partially cushioned by emergency releases of strategic reserves and temporary US sanctions waivers on Russian and Iranian oil.

Particular concern surrounds the LNG market: roughly one-fifth of global supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Unlike oil, there are virtually no alternative gas delivery routes, and strategic reserves are insufficient to offset the shortfall. Furthermore, part of the world's largest LNG production facility has sustained damage from missile strikes — repairs are estimated by QatarEnergy to take up to 5 years.
