US now controls Venezuela's oil.

Venezuela currently holds 303 billion barrels of oil reserves (the world's largest).

Oil prices are trading at $57 per barrel, putting the total value of Venezuela's reserves at approximately $17.3 trillion.

In 12 hours, the US gained control of oil reserves worth more than the GDP of every country in the world except the US and China. The figure the US has gained is four times greater than Japan's GDP.

The world and the global economy have changed. Oil will react to these events for the first time on Sunday at 6:00 PM ET (Monday, 2:00 UTC+3).
