From September 2 to 4, Chennai (India) hosted the anniversary PREСICE ENERGY OLYMPIAD organized by Atomstroyexport, JSC (Engineering Division of Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom). Over 12.5 thousand schoolchildren and students from 9 cities and more than 90 schools and colleges of Tamil Nadu State competed in mathematics, chemistry and physics.
The final events took place in the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chennai with the support of Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre.

New IAEA publication: Considerations for Deploying Artificial Intelligence Applications in the Nuclear Power Industry

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across industries has unveiled its transformative potential for enhancing the safety, security, efficiency and reliability of nuclear power plants (NPP). While AI technologies are advancing rapidly in various fields, their adoption in the nuclear power industry remains in the nascent stages, characterized by pilot projects and limited deployment. This publication provides general guidance on the aspects that need addressing when deploying AI applications in NPPs. It presents the latest information, up to date best practices, experiences, benefits and challenges related to AI in the life cycle of NPPs.

IAEA Opens New Curie-Meitner Nuclear Applications Centre, Marking Completion of Lab Modernization

The new Curie-Meitner Nuclear Applications Centre - named after nuclear pioneers Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Lise Meitner - provides modern facilities for three of the IAEA’S eight nuclear science and applications laboratories in Seibersdorf. The Terrestrial Environment and Radiochemistry Laboratory provides support in managing radioactive, industrial, and environmental pollutants. The Plant Breeding and Genetics laboratory, one of five laboratories that make up the Joint FAO/IAEA Agriculture and Biotechnology Laboratories at Seibersdorf, develops high-yield, resistant crops and the Nuclear Science and Instrumentation laboratory helps countries to use a range of analytic nuclear techniques.

New collaboration agreement among ANENT, ENEN, LANENT, STAR-NET and INSTA

❇️ IAEA meeting on educational networks was held at the IAEA in Vienna, Austria, from December 8 to 12, 2025 and brought together 120 participants from 60 countries representing universities and organizations that train specialists in various fields of nuclear technology.

❇️ On December 9, 2025, on the sidelines of the meeting, a collaboration agreement was signed among ieducation networks: ANENT, LANENT, STAR-NET, ENEN and INSTA.

❇️ The signed agreement will make it possible to take full advantage of joint work, exchange of best practices, resources and opportunities for capacity building and effective nuclear education. The collaboration of educational networks promotes the dissemination, management and preservation of nuclear knowledge and helps ensure the availability of talented and qualified human resources for the safe and sustainable use of nuclear technologies.

STAR-NET celebrates the first 10 years

On December 10, the XI General Assembly of the STAR-NET took place. Vladimir Shevchenko, Rector of the NRNU MEPhI and President of STAR-NET, noted in his speech: "Over the ten years of its existence, our network has come a long way, and it has gone parallel to the development of nuclear energy, which the European Union has already included in the list of "green" and promising energy sources. SMRs are beginning to attract more interest in the world. Many countries, including Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, have taken decisive steps towards building nuclear power plants. The construction of nuclear facilities is closely linked to the training of personnel, so the role of nuclear education is increasing worldwide. So, the work of networks like ours is extremely relevant."
He also pointed out the need to attract the most advanced and talented applicants to the field of nuclear technology, while competing with such popular training areas as IT, fintech and classical engineering.
