📣 Dear Students,

We are thrilled to announce that Nazarbayev University has been awarded Institutional Accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

The QAA is a globally respected body specializing in higher education quality assurance, known for its rigorous standards and international credibility.
This recognition follows a series of important steps throughout the past year. In September 2024, a team from QAA visited our campus as part of the International Quality Review (IQR). The process involved thoughtful engagement with key university stakeholders, including students and representatives from the Ministry of Education, with special thanks to the previous MOE cabinet for their support throughout.

This achievement reflects our ongoing dedication to academic excellence, and we remain committed to reaching even greater milestones ahead.

Sincerely,
Ministry of Education

Dear Students, and especially freshman students,

We would like to clarify any miscommunication regarding fee-based retakes for newly admitted NU students.

The Academic Policies and Procedures (APP) is the main document that regulates everything related to academic matters at NU. The updated APP, which introduces rules on fee-based retakes, confirms that the policy will apply only to newly admitted students. The document is still under revision, mainly due to the timeline and process of implementation. It was planned to start this year, but the exact dates have not yet been approved and may still be delayed.

While no one currently knows the exact process for implementation and no technical system is in place, it is expected that this policy will apply once the new APP is officially approved.

During the working group sessions on revising the APP, Student Government pushed for changes in students’ favor, including at least one free retake for new students, but these proposals were not approved. We are also continuing discussions to ensure that, if implemented, the retake cost will remain at a reasonable and fair amount for students. The final decision on the implementation date and payment structure, whether per ECTS or per course, and the exact cost will be determined by the University Managing Council.

At this moment, the policy is still in the development stage, and the exact framework for implementation has not been decided. Student Government will remain in the working group, continue advocating for students and provide updates as soon as official information becomes available.

Best regards,
Ministry of Education

Dear students,

We are in ongoing communication with the Bursar’s Office regarding the stipend payments that have not yet been received by some students. According to their clarification, the issue is related to a system error on the bank’s side.

Additionally, there are a few other possible reasons why the payment may not have gone through:

1. Some students may have provided an incorrect or closed bank account.

2. If your account was linked to a broker account (for example, in Halyk Bank), please make sure the account is active and check whether the funds were transferred there.

3. Students who have multiple cards should verify that the card linked to the provided account is still open; otherwise, the payment is returned.

4. Around 40 physical cards have not been collected yet, which may also cause delays.

We kindly ask all students who have not received their stipend to:

- You might need to provide your updated IBAN number to the Bursar’s Office to resolve the issue. They asked us to collect this information, but it is beyond the scope of our competency. Please visit the Bursar’s Office to clarify your situation.

- Verify that the account number you submitted is active and correct.

- If your account is with Halyk Bank, check your broker account or contact the bank directly at 7111 for more detailed assistance.

Thank you for your understanding. We have already provided the list of students who have not received their payments and requested the Office of the Bursar to send an official clarification email. However, they declined to do so. Please visit the Office of the Bursar.

Best regards,
Ministry of Education

Dear students,

Our university is launching a new integrated academic system Academia, which will combine Registrar, Moodle, Bursar’s, and other services in one platform. The system will be accessible on your phone and will include features like timetable, marks, attendance, and notifications.

Right now, the implementation team is on a two-week on-site visit in Kazakhstan to configure the system according to our university’s specific needs. The Ministry of Education will also be providing feedback during this stage.

The first modules to be integrated include Admissions, Registrar, and Bursar’s Office. The project is planned to be completed by September 2026.

We are now collecting feedback from students to identify and propose features and improvements that could be included in the new system. While not every suggestion may be implemented, your input will help guide the configuration process and ensure the system reflects our community’s needs.

Thank you for your input!
