Today, 13th April is the international Remembrance Day of the Katyn Massacre.
The Katyn massacre was a serious of executions and murders of over 20,000 Polish soldiers, border guards, and intellectuals carried out by the Soviet Union and the NKVD.
Those executed were deemed โenemy of the soviet stateโ and were taken to remote bushland and shot in the back of the head and buried in ditches.
Initially, for many years the massacre was blamed on the Germans and was used during the Nuremberg trials, it wasnโt until 1990 when the soviet government finally accepted responsibility.
Remember the victims of communism!
