Islamic Ethics in Tech #38: Mujahadah (Spritual Striving)

Mujahadah (مجاهدة) is the daily, invisible war against your own lower self.

The word comes from the root j-h-d the same root as jihad. But the Prophet ﷺ called this one the greater jihad:

"The mujahid is the one who strives against his nafs in obedience to Allah." Jami' at-Tirmidhi 1621

Mujāhadah in tech is choosing integrity over shortcuts, resisting normalized wrong, and keeping your intention sincere even when no one is watching.

Is your daily work a reflection of your inner striving for Allah?

🌙 Looking back at Ramadan moments 🌙

One of the highlights from our Ramadan activities was the “Guess the Quran” challenge and we still love thinking about the energy and consistency it brought to the channel.

A special shoutout to those who really stood out:

🏆 Eman M.
🏆 Muna A.
🏆 Sebrin A.

Your effort didn’t go unnoticed, and it was beautiful to see your connection with the Quran throughout the challenge. May Allah continue to increase you in knowledge and barakah.

Each of you received 4GB internet as a small appreciation 🎁

And to everyone who joined in honestly, you made it what it was. More meaningful things coming your way inshaAllah 🌙

Islamic Ethics in Tech #39: Ta’awun (Mutual Cooperation)

Ta’awun is intentional, mutual help toward goodness rooted in consciousness of Allah.

Allah says in the Quran:
"And cooperate in goodness and righteousness, but do not cooperate in sin and transgression." Qur’an 5:2

Tech is often competitive. Knowledge is hidden behind NDAs. Seniors guard their expertise. Developers take credit alone for work built on many others’ efforts.

Ta’awun reminds us that technology work is not just “production” it is partnership in shaping human experience.

Are the ways you collaborate reflecting truly cooperation toward what Allah loves?

💻 Project Spotlight: "Momentum" for Muslim Developers

If you are a developer or designer, you probably know about "Momentum" the famous browser extension that turns your new tab into a beautiful productivity dashboard.

An Indonesian engineering leader (Noval Agung) decided to build an Open-Source, Islamic version of it.

📱 The Project: Muslim Board

Muslim Board is a browser extension that replaces your empty "New Tab" page with a stunning, minimal personal dashboard designed to keep you productive and mindful of your Salah.

What’s on the dashboard:
🕰 Local Prayer Times: It auto-detects your location and shows exactly when your next Salah is, right in your browser.
📅 Hijri Calendar: Always know the Islamic date.
📝 Built-in To-Do List: Keep track of your daily coding tasks without opening another app.
📖 Curated Reminders: Beautiful Islamic quotes and Quranic verses that change daily, set against high-quality, refreshing background images.

💡 Why this is brilliant for us:
Checking prayer times on your phone usually leads to opening Twitter or Telegram and losing 30 minutes of focus. With Muslim Board, you see your prayer times every time you open a new tab to Google a bug.

👨‍💻 The Open Source Angle:
It is 100% free, has no ads, and is completely Open Source (built with JavaScript). You can literally go to their GitHub right now and submit a Pull Request to add your favorite Islamic quote to their database!

👇 Install it on your browser today:

🌐 Chrome / Edge / Firefox:
Search "Muslim Board" in your browser's extension store, or visit their website:

#13 Sahaba Stories for Modern Hearts: Lessons from Salman al-Farsi (RA)

Many think solutions only come from the expected one, Salman (RA) proved that wisdom has no borders. He was a foreigner, yet his idea saved Madinah from destruction.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Salman is from us, the Ahl al-Bayt." (Ibn Hisham)

An army of 10,000 Confederates marched to wipe out the Muslims. Madinah was defenseless. Panic set in. But Salman, a Persian, suggested a foreign tactic: digging a massive trench. The Arabs had never seen this. The Prophet ﷺ didn't dismiss him as an "outsider." He listened. They dug the trench, and the enemy cavalry couldn't cross. A simple idea from a seeker of truth saved the entire community.

Lessons:
🔹Listen to ideas from everyone; wisdom is lost property of the believer.
🔹Your unique background is your strength.
🔹Diversity isn't just beautiful; it's necessary for survival.
