NPHVA is deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of the 66-year-old private hire driver, who succumbed to injuries sustained following an assault by a passenger last year.
NPHVA extends our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Our thoughts are with them as they cope with this immense loss.
The Association strongly condemns all acts of violence against point-to-point drivers. Drivers dedicate themselves each day to serving the commuting public, and they deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and to carry out their work in a safe environment.
NPHVA is of the view that offences of this nature warrant severe punishment. We hope that a sentence commensurate with the gravity of the offence will be imposed.
The safety and well-being of drivers will always remain an important priority. NPHVA will continue working with stakeholders to advocate for measures that strengthen protections for point-to-point drivers and support a safer working environment for all.
Our thoughts are with the driver's family and all those affected by this tragic incident.

β½ Driver Fee Extended Until 30 September 2026
Following NPHVAβs continued engagements with platform operators on driversβ operating costs, CDG Zig, Grab, Gojek, and TADA will be extending their Driver Fee / fuel support measures until 30 September 2026.
The Driver Fee was first introduced in 2022 to help drivers manage rising fuel costs. Importantly, these fees are passed on fully to drivers and do not attract platform commission.
At NPHVA, we continue to bring membersβ feedback and concerns directly to the table through our regular engagements with platform operators, advocating for practical measures that support drivers on the ground.
