🗓Half the year, in review🗓
As we reach the midpoint of the year, here’s a snapshot of some of the key developments, milestones, and advocacy efforts over the past six months.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. While many of the initiatives highlighted remain ongoing, each engagement is another step towards better outcomes for private hire drivers.
As we move into the second half of the year, we’ll continue advocating for meaningful improvements, engaging platform operators, and representing the interests of drivers every step of the way.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
The journey doesn’t end here, it grows stronger with every driver who chooses to stand together. If you’re not yet a member, join us and help strengthen the collective voice for private hire drivers.

As Singapore’s transport landscape continues to evolve, many drivers have been thinking about what the future holds, what opportunities may be available, and how they can continue to build stable and sustainable livelihoods.
During yesterday’s Parliamentary session, a Manpower Transition Package for taxi and private hire car drivers was announced. Developed in partnership with NTUC, the Government, and industry partners, the package aims to provide drivers with greater support should they wish to upskill or explore new career pathways.
The package includes:
• A training incentive of $20 per hour to help ease costs associated with attending approved training.
• Career Conversion Programmes, including pathways into roles such as Autonomous Vehicle Specialists and Bus Captains.
• Enhanced career guidance to help drivers better understand their options and make informed decisions.
We welcome this as a meaningful step towards supporting drivers who wish to upskill and explore new opportunities, are encouraged that the concerns and aspirations of drivers continue to be part of the national conversation. We thank our Advisor, Sister Yeo Wan Ling, for continuing to advocate for platform workers and ensuring that drivers’ voices and concerns are represented as Singapore prepares for the future of transport.
While changes in the industry will take place over time, it is important that drivers are equipped with the support, opportunities and confidence to navigate them. NPHVA will continue working closely with our partners to advocate for initiatives that strengthen drivers’ livelihoods and help our members prepare for the road ahead.
