On Reading Books

Reading books should be a part of your daily routine. Whether it's a novel or a course book, you should allocate time every day to peruse a few pages.

But it's important to not get in the trap of reading endless self-help/self-development books. You can only optimize your habits/day so much that at one point, marginal utility you get from that genre of books becomes minuscule. Instead, read memoirs, fiction, non-fiction, romance, academic, the list goes on. These books will improve your focus and critical thinking far better than any self-help books out there. They will also broaden your knowledge in a range of topics so you will be able to strike up a conversation with anyone you are interested.

As for myself, I just finished the semester, and started reading the Foundation by Isaac Asimov. I intend to read as many books as I can in the summer, and I suggest you do the same. Good luck random earth citizen.

If you are not seeing gains in the gym, you are not eating/sleeping right. You could be doing Cbum's split routine, but no matter how much you try, you won't see results with a poor diet and 5 hours of sleep.

Pink Floyd - Sheep

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air
You better watch out
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Jordan, and I have seen
Things are not what they seem

Purpose of Life

What is it, you want in life? Have you ever asked yourself why you wake up everyday and go to school or work 260 days a year? What is your purpose? Is it to get rich, or settle in with a family, or travel like a nomad? A close friend told me he wants to retire early and get a farm of his own far from the burden of city life.

If you don't have one yet, you need to sit and properly think about it. You don't need to have everything planned and figured out, but having an idea of what you want to do in the long term helps.

If you want to be in the 1% of the world population, you only need to be making around $35k a year ($PPP). If you want to be a nomad and spend the rest of your life traveling like a nomad, you need to create a game plan so that you'll be making income no matter where you are. If you want to be a billionaire, you need drop everything and work on things that help you in making your first billion. That would mean having no social life and shutting off from the world. Of course there is no one way to to be a billionaire and 99.99% of the time you don't even need to be a billionaire. You can have a work-life balance and still afford a comfortable lifestyle. It again comes down to your purpose.

Without an end goal, you will spend your life helping someone achieve their purpose in life.

Stop doing 100 things at a time and focus on things that matter. You will get overwhelmed and end up learning nothing. Being a mediocre jack of all trades will make you as good as the large language models out there. If you don't have anything exceptional to offer, you'll be replaced by your corporate overlords as soon as the next ChatGPT comes out.

Embracing Change: A Journey of Growth and Gratitude

Dear Jakhongir Rakhmonov and Azimjon Pulatov @lazyprogrammer,

I hope this message finds you both in good health and high spirits. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible impact you've had on my life through your blog channel on Telegram.

Ever since I started following your channel, I have been consistently amazed by the valuable knowledge and insights you share about software engineering and computer science. Your dedication to providing useful information has been truly invaluable to my growth as a professional.

In particular, I vividly remember the post that Jakhongir shared in August 2022. It was about improving one's life by getting rid of social network accounts like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Though it seemed challenging, I gathered the courage to follow your advice.

At that time, I was in my first year of studying for a master's degree at Kyoto University in Japan. I was working hard to build a strong foundation in my chosen field and preparing for my future job. Initially, I simply avoided using these platforms, but deep down, I knew that deleting them was the path to true focus and growth. It was not an easy decision, considering the connections I had made over the years, but eventually, I took the step and removed those social network accounts from my life.

The impact was amazing. With those distractions gone, I was able to fully focus on my studies and personal development. I dedicated myself to improving not only my Japanese language skills but also my programming abilities. I explored different programming languages, practiced coding challenges, and worked on personal projects that allowed me to apply the knowledge I gained from your blog channel.

Through consistent effort and the valuable resources you provided, I witnessed a significant improvement in my programming skills. This newfound proficiency opened doors for me, and I secured my first part-time job as a developer. It was an exciting experience that allowed me to gain practical experience, enhance my problem-solving abilities, and expand my professional network.

Today, I am thrilled to share that I have received a job offer from a prestigious Japanese software company for a software engineering position in 2024. This achievement would not have been possible without your valuable insights and guidance. Your thoughts, experiences, and useful suggestions have played a vital role in shaping my career, and for that, I am extremely grateful.

To all those who are currently in the process of learning and self-improvement, I encourage you to stay committed to your education. Stay focused, avoid unnecessary distractions, and dedicate time to improve both your technical skills and personal development. Consider taking the brave step of deleting your social network accounts, as it can have immeasurable rewards.

Once again, Jakhongir Rakhmonov and Azimjon Pulatov, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your dedication to sharing knowledge and inspiring others is truly commendable. May your journey continue to impact countless lives, just as it has impacted mine.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Your Follower from Japan

I have said it multiple times - Social Media is holding you back from achieving your goals. The post I just shared serves as a plain illustration of this phenomenon.

This is my 11 month progress in the gym that I started in June 2022. The chart only includes the core lifts. The gaps in the graph mean I either switched those lifts for something else, or I had an injury in the corresponding body part.
