روي في حديث أن أمير المؤمنين (ع) سهر تلك الليلة (ليلة التاسع عشر من شهر رمضان), فأكثر الخروج والنظر في السماء, وهو يقول: والله ما كذبت ولا كذبت و إنها الليلة التي وعدت بها, ثم يعاود مضجعه, فلما طلع الفجر شد إزاره وخرج وهو يقول:
اشدد حيازيمك للموت ... فإن الموت لاقيك
ولا تجزع من الموت ... إذا حل بواديك
فلما خرج إلى صحن الدار استقبلته الإوز فصحن في وجهه, فجعلوا يطردونهن فقال: دعوهن فإنهن نوائح, ثم خرج فأصيب (ع).(1)
لما ضرب ابن ملجم لعنه الله أمير المؤمنين (ع) قال (ع): فزت ورب الكعبة.(2)
