President Zelenskyi met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi. They had a serious conversation, including about reshuffles in the army. According to Zelenskyi, during the meeting, they discussed the updates that the Armed Forces need, and also raised the question of who could be in the renewed leadership of the army.

"The time for such an update is now. I offered Zaluzhnyi to continue to be in the team," Zelenskyi added. He thanked Zaluzhnyi for two years of protection of Ukraine.

Defense Minister Umerov said that "Today, a decision was made on the need to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I am sincerely grateful to Valerii Fedorovych for all his achievements and victories."
In particular, today I spoke with Brigadier Generals Andriy Hnatov, Mykhailo Drapaty, Ihor Skybyuk and Colonels Pavlo Palisa and Vadym Sukharevskyi.

All of them are being considered for senior positions in the army and will serve under the leadership of Ukraine's most experienced commander. He has successful experience in defense, having led the Kyiv defense operation. He also has a successful offensive experience - the Kharkiv liberation operation.

I have appointed Colonel General Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Today I spoke with Generals Moysiuk and Zabrodskyi. Their experience is in the service of the state.

The year 2024 can be successful for Ukraine only if we make effective changes in the basis of our defense, which is the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelenskyi's evening speech committed to the change of leadership in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi will be the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"I am grateful to General Zaluzhnyi for two years of defense. I am grateful for every victory we have achieved together and thanks to all Ukrainian soldiers who are heroically enduring this war.

Today we had a frank discussion about what needs to be changed in the army. Urgent changes. I offered General Zaluzhnyi to continue to be part of the Ukrainian state team. I would be grateful for his consent.

Starting today, a new management team takes over the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want our soldiers in Robotyne or Avdiivka, the General Staff and the Chief of Staff to have the same vision of the war. I have had dozens of conversations with commanders of various levels.

An additional evening speech from Zelenskyi

An exchange was just held - another 100 of our soldiers returned home, to Ukraine, from Russian captivity. Soldiers and sergeants. The majority are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal. Soldiers of the National Guard, Border Service, Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, 3,135 Ukrainian men and women have already been released from Russian captivity.

I thank our entire exchange team. To Kirill Budanov and everyone at the GUR who conducts exchanges. Andriy Yermak and the Office team. Dmytro Usov and the entire Coordinating Staff on Prisoner of War Issues. To all involved, to all who help. Dmytro Lubinets and the Ombudsman's team. Ihor Klymenko and the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Vasyl Malyuk and the SBU team.

And, of course, my special gratitude to all our soldiers on the front lines, every unit, who replenish the exchange fund and take prisoners of the Russian occupiers. Everyone in their position ensures this.
