🇵🇱 Activists in Poland have created the “Civil Order of the Future” to honor President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.

The initiative was launched in response to a decision by Polish President Karol Nawrocki to revoke the Order of the White Eagle that had been awarded to Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people in 2023.

The organizers argue that some political forces in Poland are using the Volyn tragedy as a tool in the parliamentary election campaign.

“Politicians are arguing about 1943, while in 2026 people are dying every day in Ukraine. That is why we, as citizens of the Republic of Poland, want to award our own order. This is a grassroots initiative.

With this gesture, we show that the majority of Poles cannot be turned against Ukrainians. We have helped and will continue to help. We do not need politicians’ permission to treat other people with dignity,” the authors of the manifesto said.

The initiative is intended as a symbol of solidarity between Polish citizens and Ukraine amid ongoing political debates over historical issues.
