🇰🇵🇷🇺 North Korea spy chief in Moscow

North Korea’s intelligence chief Ri Chang-dae attended a security forum in Moscow and held talks with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, according to KCNA. Ri led a delegation from the North’s National Intelligence Agency at a meeting of high-level security representatives in Russia on Thursday, where the two sides discussed stronger bilateral security and intelligence cooperation.

The report suggests Pyongyang has recently renamed its Ministry of State Security as the National Intelligence Agency. The meeting also reflects continued institutional contact between North Korea and Russia on security matters, after Ri traveled to Russia in May last year for the same forum and also met Shoigu.

KCNA said the talks covered protecting the two countries’ core interests and responding to global and regional security challenges. Ri also used the forum to call for stronger national security capabilities and closer cooperation in building a multipolar world.
