Ethiopia is due to hold its general election on Monday, but voting will not take place in all parts of the country as conflict continues in several regions. Voters are electing members of the 547-seat parliament, with 274 seats needed to form a government, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's Prosperity Party is expected to retain power.

The vote is Ethiopia's seventh since the fall of the military regime in 1991. Abiy Ahmed, 49, has led the country since 2018, while media access has been restricted ahead of the election and several international outlets, including the BBC, were not granted press accreditation.
