🇧🇷🇧🇷🤝🇺🇸 — Presidential pre-candidate and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro celebrated the announcement that the United States classified Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) as terrorist organizations.

“On a trip as a pre-candidate, we did more for Brazil and for the security of Brazilians than the PT and Lula did in their seventeen years in office. While Lula went on his knees after Trump, doing favors for the CV and PCC, I went to work so that they would be treated as terrorists, which is what they are. One in every four Brazilians lives in areas dominated by these narco-terrorists, meaning they have no sovereignty even inside their own homes.

A government that has no control over its own territory, that cannot even control its prisons, is a government that is complicit with organized crime. I thank President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for responding quickly to my request on behalf of the Brazilian people. Now it is up to us, here in Brazil. And starting in 2027, we will free you, because you deserve to be free from this parallel, violent, and cowardly government.”

🇧🇷🇧🇷❌🇺🇸 — Former Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, who serves as an adviser to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on foreign policy, condemned the action by the United States Department of State that declared Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), Brazil’s largest drug trafficking networks, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

“Public security is a fundamental issue for socioeconomic development. Organized crime is an evil that must be fought. International cooperation is welcome, especially on issues such as money laundering and arms smuggling. Using it as a pretext for intervention is unacceptable.”

🤡 The presidential special adviser, Celso Amorim, spoke on behalf of the Brazilian government. President Lula was at the Palácio do Planalto when the United States Department of State published the statement. There has still been no official statement from the president or from the Foreign Ministry.
