❗️Russian guided aerial bombs remain a serious challenge for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“We are talking about thousands, not even hundreds, of bombs every month. Their aircraft launch guided bombs both from Russian territory and from temporarily occupied territories at distances of more than 100 kilometers. We have never had enough air defense systems capable of intercepting such bombs,” the president noted.

According to Zelenskyy, Gripen fighter jets equipped with appropriate weapons — in particular Meteor missiles, which can engage targets at ranges exceeding 200 kilometers — will help push Russian aircraft farther from the front line, making the mass use of guided aerial bombs much more difficult.

“I began this conversation with President Biden and will continue it with President Trump. I believe that in the future we will either receive a license or develop our own anti-ballistic system,” Zelenskyy said during a visit to Sweden.

The president also recalled the letter he recently sent to the US president and Congress, again stressing Ukraine’s critical need to strengthen its air defense amid ongoing Russian attacks.

He called on the United States either to increase supplies of anti-ballistic systems and missiles or to grant Ukraine a license to produce them domestically.
