Ракета Meteor выпускает европейским концерном MBDA и, по открытым данным, имеет дальность более 120 км с оценочной максимальной дальностью поражения цели до 200 км.

Но ее ключевым преимуществом является не максимальная дальность, а регулируемый прямоточный воздушно-реактивный двигатель, который позволяет ракете гарантированно поражать цель на значительно большем расстоянии даже при ее энергичных маневрах (60-90 км), чем имеющимися сейчас у Украины модификациями AIM-120.

Этот фактор создаст значительную угрозу для истребителей и бомбардировщиков ВКС России, которые будут вынуждены реагировать на пуски ракет "воздух-воздух" противником и осуществлять маневры гораздо раньше, чем сейчас, а шанс их поражения в воздушном бою возрастет.
