Taiwan prosecutors suspect three individuals smuggled at least one shipment of Nvidia chips to China after first exporting them to Japan, according to a Reuters report citing Bloomberg. The report said Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter.

The suspected route ran from Taiwan to Japan and then onward to China. The case concerns Nvidia chips and an alleged export diversion involving at least one shipment.

The matter points to possible enforcement scrutiny around semiconductor exports moving through third countries. It also places Japan in the reported transit chain under investigation.

A rights group has accused the United Arab Emirates of serving as a transit point for mercenaries travelling to Sudan, according to the BBC. The UAE has denied any involvement in Sudan’s civil war and said it investigates alleged links.

Sudan has been at war since 2023, with regional actors and external support repeatedly coming under scrutiny as the conflict continues.
