On the night of May 26, Russia attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 122 strike UAVs. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 111 enemy drones, the Ukrainian Air Force reported, marking an interception rate of 90.98%.

Hits by nine strike UAVs and missiles were recorded at 11 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at three other locations.

The attack is ongoing, with new groups of enemy UAVs entering Ukrainian airspace.

🇨🇩 Drone strikes hit Kisangani airport in new wave of attacks in DR Congo

Multiple explosions struck Bangboka airport in Kisangani, Tshopo province, at around 5:30 pm on Sunday, with local authorities reporting nine blasts between Sunday night and early Monday morning. Two flights were canceled, no casualties were reported, and officials said the full extent of damage was still being assessed. Authorities suspect drone strikes and said investigations are underway. It was reportedly the fourth time the airport has been targeted.

The attacks came as fighting continued in eastern DR Congo, where AFC/M23 accused government forces of carrying out drone strikes on positions in North Kivu and Minembwe. On Friday, the international contact group for the Great Lakes region, including Belgium, France, the United States and the European Union, condemned the growing use of drones and the rising number of civilian victims in eastern Congo.

🇹🇼🇨🇳 Taiwan monitors new Chinese patrol

Taiwan said it detected 21 Chinese aircraft, including J-16 fighters and drones, along with warships in a second “joint combat readiness patrol” near Taiwan within a week. The defence ministry said it sent ships and fighter jets to monitor the activity, and reported the patrol had ended by May 26.

China has maintained near-daily air and naval operations around the island, which Beijing claims as its territory while Taiwan rejects those sovereignty claims. The latest patrol comes as Taipei remains on alert for further Chinese moves after Xi Jinping discussed Taiwan with US President Donald Trump in Beijing in May, while Taiwanese officials also continue tracking the Liaoning carrier group in the Western Pacific.

A Taiwanese official said more than 100 Chinese ships deployed along the first island chain since May 23 remain in place. The sustained presence keeps pressure on Taiwan’s military monitoring and regional maritime surveillance.
