Situation on Pokrovskaya front: The Great Death Zone. The counteroffensive launched in early 2026 by the Ukrainian army appeared to achieve notable initial success, gaining a great deal of ground in a short time—albeit at a high cost—and halting the pace of Russian advances from 2025. However, those rapid advances were not followed by a consolidation of positions, especially south of the former main Ukrainian defense line. During the last three months, an extensive “death zone” has formed where small groups on both sides have carried out limited assault and infiltration operations under the constant threat of enemy drones and artillery fire.
The Ukrainian recaptures of those localities were due to the lack of a Russian presence—a presence that resurfaced with each new infiltration and vanished with each failed attempt, yet maintained the de facto status of a contested town. As the weeks passed, Ukrainian attrition allowed the Russians, who had brought in reinforcements, to carry out more successful infiltrations further north of the death zone, where the number of Ukrainian defenders remains low.

During the last two weeks, Russian Army managed to retake Rybne while re-entering Pryvillya, Vishneve & Verbove. From there, they launched a series of advances northward toward Novooleksandrivka, Hai & Vidradne (which are now contested or under minimal Russian presence) & from there reached Vovcha River & the locality of Dobropasove, where it's still unknown whether the infiltrated troops managed to entrench themselves there.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian army managed to enter the western & northern parts of Berezove, where fighting continues, & reinforce its presence in Novomykolaivka & Kalynivske. Further west, the advance of small Ukrainian groups continues to approach Huliaipole from the north & continues to put pressure on Russian troops in the west, who are forced to redeploy resources toward Nove Zaporizhzhya & Dobropillya, which are under attack from the rear by these small groups.
