بنیامین نتانیاهو، نخست وزیر اسرائیل، روز دوشنبه خبر داد که دستور حملات تازه به جنوب لبنان در تلاش برای «خرد کردن» گروه حزب‌الله را صادر کرده است.
ساعتی بعد خبرگزاری‌ها از چند حمله شدید اسرائیل به این منطقه خبر دادند.

نتانیاهو در ویدئویی که در شبکه تلگرام منتشر شد خبر داد که خواستار «سرعت بیشتر دادن» به حملات ارتش اسرائیل شده است.
او همچنین حزب‌الله را متهم کرد که با پهپاد نیروهای اسرائیلی را هدف گرفته است.

صدور دستور حمله بیشتر به لبنان، همزمان است با خواسته دو وزیر افراطی در کابینه اسرائیل که در همین روز خواستار تشدید حملات به جنوب لبنان و همین طور پایتخت، بیروت، شده بودند.

حمله اسرائیل به این منطقه در حالی رخ می‌دهد که در سوی دیگر تهران و واشینگتن از جمله درباره پایان جنگ در لبنان مذاکره می‌کنند.
حکومت ایران در هر دور از مذاکرات اخیر خود با آمریکا، پایان جنگ در لبنان را نیز خواستار شده است.
حملات متقابل اسرائیل و حزب‌الله در حالی رخ می‌دهد که دو طرف بیش از یک ماه است که به طور اسمی در آتش‌بس به سر می‌برند.
