🇰🇷 Foreigners Exit Korean Chip Stocks

Foreign investors sold more than 10 trillion won ($6.6 billion) in Samsung Electronics and SK hynix shares during the week of May 18, according to Korea Exchange and Yonhap Infomax data released in Seoul on May 25. Net sales totaled 5.26 trillion won in Samsung Electronics and 5.33 trillion won in SK hynix, equal to 73% of foreigners’ total net selling of Korean stocks at 14.45 trillion won for the week.

The move extended foreigners’ net-selling streak in the South Korean stock market to 12 trading sessions since May 7. Over that period, they sold a combined 38.4 trillion won in Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, accounting for 82.9% of total net foreign selling of 46.34 trillion won, while selectively shifting into robotics and energy storage system shares on both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets.

Last week’s foreign buying included Doosan Robotics, Samsung SDI, Fadu and Seojin System. The rotation indicates capital moving away from semiconductors toward sectors tied to physical AI, AI data centers and ESS demand.

🇲🇦🇪🇭 Tourism in Western Sahara rises as Morocco expands air links and promotion

Visitor numbers to Morocco-controlled Western Sahara have risen by more than 50% over the past seven years, according to Morocco's Ministry of Tourism, increasing from 490,297 in 2019 to 743,133 in 2025. The growth has been driven by new direct flights to Dakhla and Laayoune operated by Royal Air Maroc, Ryanair, Transavia France and Binter Canarias from Madrid, Paris and the Canary Islands, while some airlines and hotel booking platforms list the territory as part of Morocco.

Western Sahara is classified by the UN as a non-self-governing territory, with around 80% occupied and administered by Morocco, which considers it part of its southern provinces. Rights groups and legal experts told the BBC that presenting the territory as Moroccan raises concerns under international law, while Morocco did not respond to a request for comment.

"The republic's legal mechanisms do not provide for the consideration of disputes not related to its jurisdiction, and therefore the considered AIFC court decision will not be executed on the territory of Kazakhstan," Sarsembayev noted.

He explains that the Constitution limits the AIFC's jurisdiction so that this court can only consider disputes related to the activities of the Financial Center itself or those that the parties have sent for consideration under the agreement.

Gazprom, as the Minister of Justice states, is not a member of the AIFC and did not agree to consider the case in court. Gazprom has now been given 14 days to appeal this decision.
