➡️ Morera is the sister of General Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, executive president of GAESA, a financial conglomerate controlled by the Cuban military, according to the United States. Rubio stated that GAESA is currently “stealing millions in aid intended for the Cuban people” on behalf of the communist regime.

➡️ Morera’s arrest comes two weeks after the United States Department of the Treasury added her sister, General Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, to the sanctions list maintained by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). According to the official profile of the Communist Party of Cuba, Ania has led GAESA since 2022, has been a member of the Central Committee, and has served in the National Assembly since 2018.

➡️ GAESA is considered the economic core of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba. The conglomerate controls strategic sectors on the island, including tourism, foreign currency commerce, remittances, banking, port logistics, and part of foreign trade. The American government accuses the group of enabling a small elite within the Cuban regime to divert resources from the island and maintain up to US$20 billion (R$100 billion at the latest exchange rate) in illicit funds held in overseas accounts.

Morera was managing real estate assets and living in Florida, while also aiding Havana's communist regime, until I terminated her permanent resident status.
