Finland will hold large-scale military exercises near the border with Russia.

The Finnish Navy will conduct the “Narrow Waters 26-1” exercises in the Gulf of Finland from May 18 to 29, according to the Navy’s official website. The maneuvers will also take place in the coastal areas of southern Finland and the Archipelago Sea.

About 3,000 servicemembers will participate. The main goal is to train operations in conditions as close as possible to real combat. Naval and aerial drones will be used extensively during the exercises.

Foreign units will also join Finnish forces, including about 100 personnel from a German Navy Coast Guard company and around 30 US Marines.
