13-year-old Ukrainian pole vaulter Omelian Herasymchuk has set a new world record in his age category, the Ukrainian Athletics Federation reported.
At a competition in Ruse, Bulgaria, he cleared 4.40 meters — the best result ever recorded in the U13 category.
The federation noted that despite his young age, Herasymchuk has already broken world-best marks in this category several times. In December 2025, he cleared 4.10 meters, and in January 2026 — 4.22 meters.

Mali and Niger are strengthening their borders. 🏴🇲🇱🇷🇺🇳🇪
Following the recapture of Labbezanga on 6 May (in coordination with Niger), the Africa Corps and FAMa continue to reinforce the border town, whilst the Nigerien army is sending reinforcements to Koutougou on its side of the border. The area has traditionally seen high levels of ISSP activity, so coordination between states (as part of the Alliance of Sahel States) is essential to maintaining security in the region.
