Platforms under consideration include Boston Dynamics' Spot, the MobED wheeled droid, and the X-ble Shoulder exoskeleton. No details have been finalised.

South Korea's standing forces have shrunk 20% over six years to 450,000, with the Defence Ministry projecting a further decline to 350,000 by 2040 due to record-low birth rates. The push to build a technology-centric force is unfolding as North Korea continues to expand its nuclear and missile capabilities, raising the strategic cost of manpower shortfalls.

A military contract would mark a significant expansion of Hyundai's robotics commercial footprint beyond civilian applications.
