🇰🇪🇫🇷 Kenya and France Sign 11 Agreements Covering Rail, Ports, Energy and Digital Economy

Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the signing of 11 bilateral agreements at State House Nairobi on 11 May 2026, ahead of the Africa Forward Summit. The deals include a Sh12.5 billion rehabilitation of the Nairobi Commuter Rail network linking Syokimau, Embakasi, Ruiru and Kikuyu, and a joint venture for port and logistics infrastructure development valued at approximately Sh104 billion. Additional agreements cover cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, climate services, sustainable aviation fuel, a 100-megawatt expansion of the Kipeto Wind Power project, blue economy cooperation, Kenyan tea exports to France, and collaboration in healthcare and education.

The Africa Forward Summit, opening in Nairobi on 12 May, marks the first time the forum has been held outside a Francophone country in more than 50 years. Macron stated that France remains committed to expanding investment and partnerships across Africa.

🇫🇷 Macron Tells Africa Report: Europe Is Not the Predator of the 21st Century
